Anyways, giving to a charitable cause doesn't have to have religious motives; I suppose that could somehow rope itself into the theme of this thread.

Furthermore, the concept of 'God' doesn't have to equate to him healing the world from disaster and famine, we can do that ourselves.

Maybe it's just me, and I know this will sound horribly selfish, but I'm a huge believer in trying to fix the issues of my country first than dumping $$$ to corrupt administrative groups that claim to help third world countries.

I can very well say that even though I'm not in Africa I send money every pay check to help them out because there are people there to help with those matters. Some may not know this but Africa's government and people don't care about the poor and starvation in their country. Now with all that being said my God just brought Me out of a few things I do not wish to specify on all things because it would be a very long story but also involves some personal issues. Both my cars have now passed on lol so I was in lots of great anguish trying to find out what was I going to do. Everyday was horrible not knowing but putting my faith in my God he blessed me greatly to buy my first new car. I never even imagined he would be able to manifest the money we needed. It was awesome and I so want more of what my God can supply me with along with me obeying his word and what it is he wants.

@Alice: How can I question God? Because everything requires questioning. Plz hop off your magical high horse. @Living: (Holy crap do I miss the "enter" function). God is a magical, all-powerful being. So, suffice it to say, he's doing a rather atrocious job helping...well, anyone really. Kids are still being beaten to death and raped in His own house. I mean, of all places, that's where He should put his foot down.

You're saying that because x amount of children are still starving then the amount of children who are being helped simply does not mean anything.

How can any of you question God? Our minds cannot even begin to fathom his intentions. You're here because some force in the universe created you, and you refuse to give that force any respect. You shouldn't pick apart all of the wrongs in this world and then point your finger at God.

But who says God isn't working through most people who do help? Who says those prayers aren't working?

African kids have been starving to death my whole life. That's plenty of time for God to make real headway solving it.

Hasn't happened.

All the millions of prayers over the years don't seemed to have fixed it.

Maybe we just need to rely on people helping after all, eh?

Also, I don't know about others but it's my personal view to rejoice when God helps in the little (and huge) things, even if it's just helping someone to find their car keys. We've all heard it, it's the little things that count. We can't let the negative things overcome the positive that's being done. If we do, we'll never be happy.

@paj_820 Everyday there are people who go to places to help those in need, because they believe God calls them to do that. I believe we are to be like Jesus, and that includes helping others. I believe God sends his followers out everyday to help those in need. Not just the starving children in Africa, but perhaps that abused child down the street, or the crying woman in walmart, or the broken man just trying to get through another day on the job.

I understand her point, please don't get me wrong. But I made a point to add to it.. It's that there are people who are receiving help. There are kids in Africa getting food. There are abused children getting protected. There are men and women being healed on the inside just because of the kindness of another. And I believe, some of those people helping others, are God's followers who listened to God when he told them "help that person."

It's great that her problems are solved, I'm glad she is happy with where her life is now, no one's denying that. That really is good for her.

But @american's point still stands that if God did this, why isn't he helping everyone I'm need? You say we're all equal, but that's not exactly what the rest of reply implies.

And I'm really curious to how you think God is helping all of those children, because as far as I can see, he isn't.

With your last comment about how people expect God to "snap his fingers" I think you don't understand exactly where they're coming from. It can get quite annoying when people are constantly saying "God did this or that for me" over something fairly insignificant. Yet, when someone truly needs help, for instance these children in Africa, they don't receive any.

@american_smile Forgive me but I have to comment on that. Who says He isn't helping them? Who says other people aren't helping them, to feed and clothe them? Working everyday to help them.

And why is it that those starving children in africa are somehow more important than anyone else? Aren't we all equally important? Equally need food, shelter, love?

@OP could've been going through something extremely serious and you just took it and basically said "Now that He's finished with your insignifant problem He should fix the starvation problems."

You know, I firmly believe God helps anyone and everyone that calls on His name, but I'm so tired of people thinking God is this magic being that's supposed to fix the world's problems with the snap of His finger and that if He doesn't He's just this awful being up in the sky laughing as we all suffer. Oh, but when He does help someone He's terrible because there are other people's suffering that hasn't been eased.
