Multiple Marriages?

So i am a "protestant" Christian which means i only pray to the Father Son and Holy Spirit and believe that praying to mary or queen of heaven or holy mother is considered praying our worshipping idols. Anyways just want you to understand my "religion" as people would call it even though it's not one. So what are your views, do you believe it's ok for a man to have multiple wives "sister wives"? I believe that God is ok with it but i know the world now days doesn't believe in it. God never stated in the bible where it was wrong like he did with other things. So......

Then why insert random erroneous information that slanders Catholicism in a post that otherwise has nothing to do with the Catholic church?

How do i have to tell you, I'M NOT JABBING AT ANYONE! Maybe you understand that better. Your not understanding what I'm saying obviously. And trying to twist what i say.

If you intend to "jab" at anyone, this may not be the right group for you.

American, y'all took it as though i was jabbing at Catholic people. As you can see i put mary, holy mother and queen of heaven if you do pray to any of these you are paying to idols which are not God. If all 3 of those are part of the Catholic religion then wow is all i can say.

It's not a religion mrs.r I pray to God and i read and follow the bible and believe in it. Why does everything have to be a religion when it comes to people's faith? I will not be put into someone category. I'm trying to live my life Christ like and read the Holy bible and follow the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. If you don't understand i don't know how else to explain. Religions have tradition they follow. Ok let me put it this way, I'm not Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Pentecostal, or anything else like that. Those are religions as well. They follow the bible but have other ways of teaching it and they added things and such. I've been to Baptist, Christian, and Non-Denominational churches and it different. Some are hard core if you sin your going to burn and die if you don't ask for forgiveness and some have to ask for forgiveness many times for one sin but in actuality God forgives you if you ask for forgiveness. Simple and easy.

If you had merely wanted to let us know what your faith was, then saying "protestant Christian" would have been more than enough. The jabs at Catholicism were unnecessary, uncalled for, and untrue.

Нравится Ответить

So you don't have time to explain why your religion is not a religion.

But you have time to continue to explain your feelings about Catholics?

Interesting. I'm a Christian. My religion is Christianity. I don't understand Christians who refuse to say they are part of a religion. It makes no sense.

Well let's put it this way, that is my fault for assuming something and i shouldn't have just slammed it like that but it seemed as though in you reply really it was saying i was Catholic so my bad for reading it wrong I'm not offended in any kind of way. I still do know some about the Catholic religion and what i do know is that somethings are not right. I don't have to be questioned about my age, just know I'm grown, married, work, and pay bills so obviously I'm old enough and not a teen but that is all about that(not trying to be smart). I didn't need help with what i follow in my faith. I know and i understand exactly what it is. My conversation started off because it's my first post here and wanted everyone to know my faith and what i study, everyone here comes from different "religions". So if you felt that was wrong for me to put that then oh well. My post and my choice, i can start it out how i feel. would it have been any different if i would have put it at the end? I'm sure my post could go on and on but this conversation is going to keep going on straight "religions" instead of what question really was asked. i don't have time for back and forth. But if you have a question i will be glad to answer

I'm not looking to rattle things at all, but just a question, asking Mary to intercede for us in reference to her son, can be deemed as "praying" to Mary hence she's no longer here. Wouldn't that seem as the misconception?

Нравится Ответить

Panzersmom left just in time. Lol

Catholics don't pray to Mary. @Sweet is a Catholic and has been trying to tell you this. Why are you choosing to believe differently than what is true? It's insulting to Catholics.

Нравится Ответить

It's akin to me starting a post by saying "I'm a pagan which means I don't worship and pray to some zombie who was killed on a cross and then rose from the dead. I just don't want to be mistaken for a Christian because they're a cult and it's insulting if someone thinks I'm one of them. Anyway, what do you ladies think of polygamy?"

See?

You started out on the offensive, instead of just asking what could have been a very simple question.

That's why people are upset.

Catholics DO NOT pray to Mary. Never have, never will.

Stick around and you may learn a thing or two about several religions, and maybe even your own.

@courtney

As I said, no one can help that you got offended over you misunderstanding what was said, except you...

Feel free to be insulted all you like, it is your right.. however, no one called you catholic and YOU were the one who said you wanted us to understand your faith. You're free to be offended by me trying to do just that if u so wish. For instance, it is insulting to catholics that you insist you know better than them what takes place in their church.. didn't stop you from running your mouth off about it, though, did it? 2 way street here. You want people to be concerned with how you feel when you feel insulted, you have to give the same back to people. But as I said, no one called you catholic. Feel free to re-read the thread and see for yourself. If u need help comprehending something, let us know and we can explain, rather than assuming it must mean something it doesn't and letting yourself get all offended. For what it is worth, it is easy to not get offended. For someone to offend you, you have to allow it.. so the choice IS yours, regardless what is going on.

I have to ask, How old are you, hon? That might help us understand the lack of comprehension as well as the blatant disregard for discussion based on your own claims. Do u think u can make claims on another's faith with out some kind of discussion on it? Do you think saying "i want you to understand my religion" with out being asked a few questions to gain understanding? If so, this isn't the board probably wont be very enjoyable for you.

It is clear this conversation is not going anywhere. Sure, you asked about polygamy.. but if one ask about polygamy, and tossws in a back handed remark about how wrong some other faith is in the process, they should expect to be addressed. That is just common sense.

I wish, just once, I could get one of these "it's not a religion" people to actually explain their beliefs to me. *sigh*. I guess it is hard to explain how something isn't a religion when it actually is...

Good luck to you. If u ever wish to discuss in a respectful manner, we would be glad to accommodate. Until then this is probably how most your threads will go. The choice is yours. Take care.

@courtneyrashel you fail to see the insult you stated in regards to Mary? You made some rather big claims there, and you are being corrected, take it as an opportunity to learn. Your faith, regardless how you see it, stems from mine. Look into it for yourself, you may learn more about your faith in the process.

@Nellie, am i doing or saying anything wrong in this post? I had one say i didn't read the rules but i did. I don't believe i did but if I'm wrong somewhere with the rules could you let me know please?

Yes there is too much division nellie. You ask a question i find you that if for another discussion. I say it's an insult to me to be called a Catholic. For me it is what it is. I have a right just like you do to express my opinion. But didn't ask anything about that. I asked how women feel about polygamy.

Нравится Ответить

✋Catholic woman here. No, I do not pray to Mary. Yes, you are sadly misinformed.

Нравится Ответить

Not sure why you felt the need to throw so many jabs into what could have been a very simple question. There was absolutely no need to insult Catholics with lies about their faith and bring up the whole "relationship, not religion" nonsense.

Christianity is, by definition, a religion.

And Catholics do not pray to Mary or other saints. They ask them to pray for them, just as you might ask someone to pray for you.

You are welcome to join our group and share your beliefs. You are not welcome to spread lies about or intentionally insult another religion or belief system. Please read the community guidelines before posting again.

Catholics don't pray to Mary, we ask Mary to ask her son to help us, since mothers tend to be better at getting their sons to do things than most other people.

Please try to be respectful of the church that complied the original bible, from which someone made the bible you follow.

I try to always have respect for other Christians, because that is what seems to me what Christ would want, so nothing I am saying is meant to be unkind.

May God bless you:)

Ok. So you disregard tradition. That's part of it. But actually religion is defined as much more than just tradition.

religion

noun

1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances (such as attending church, celebrating holidays, baptism, etc), and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.

the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.

the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.

3. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance (such as attending church, taking communion, etc) of faith.

4. something one believes in and follows devoutly.

So, do you strip all that away, as well?

Tradition is nothing but a very small part of religion. Think of it like saying "a bus is a steering wheel".. no. A steering wheel is PART of a bus. U can take away the steering wheel, and you still have a bus.. not a terribly useful bus, but a bus none the less. Stripping your traditions is, in and of itself, not stripping religion. It requires much more sacrifice than just tradition, though that's a reasonable start. :)

2nd, no one said you were catholic, just that they agree with you on that aspect of your faith.. I can't help that you allow yourself to be offended over something that wasn't even said, dear.. only you can help that.

Can I ask you a couple questions? if you ask your priest to pray for you, are you praying to him?

2nd have you bothered to learn anything about catholicism from actual proven, reputable catholic sources (note, ex catholics are not a proven or reputable source), or are you just parroting back what some other protestant has told you? Because, in case you don't know, you're very incorrect. I'm very sorry to say, someone has lied to you, and you accepted it as fact.

My patience is wearing thin with all the newbies who want to come in and start stuff....How about you just worry about yourself and your brand of Christianity, and refrain from spreading ignorant falsehoods about Catholics. Because it has nothing to do with your post. You put it in there to be inflammatory and it isn't appreciated.

You are welcome to share your beliefs, YOUR beliefs, not your commentary on what other people believe and how they are wrong.

Lastly, Catholics DO NOT PRAY TO MARRY. Caps for emphasis.

Religion is a tradition. I don't have tradition and don't follow tradition. All a protestant Christian is is believe in the bible and follow it. No I'm not Catholic and to me it's an insult for someone to even think that. It's a long story on that part and for another discussion. But...catholic people do pray to mary in case you don't know. Everyone here has a right to put what they're belief is so i put mine since I'm new to the group.

It's all just one big jumbled mess.

"I just want to say that I don't believe pigs can fly. Al Gore invented the Internet, even though Michael Jackson had a skin condition. What are your thoughts on the Panama Canal?" ?

*Adam and Eve and Jessica* Omg priceless!

Polygamy? Works for some, doesn't for others. Whatever people do within their marriage really isn't any of my concern.

Нравится Ответить

Oh the ignorance in the backhanded insults you felt the need to include in your post.

Moving on: No I do not believe God is in favor of polygamy.

1) God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Eve and Jessica.

2) He also was not happy with Solomon's many many wives, Abraham taking Hagar, or Jacobs mistreatment of his first wife.

3)He also said that one man and one woman shall marry and become one flesh.

4)God calls us to follow the laws of the land unless they directly go against the Bible. Polygamy is Illegal in many countries. Therefore God probably would not be pleased with people breaking laws.

*I am a "protestant" Christian

*facepalm*

Well, besides the fact that catholics don't pray TO Mary or anyone other than Jesus/God, I would say you're in agreement w the Catholic church there.. but I must ask.. in what was was that REMOTELY relevant or necessary to say? What does that have to do with anything? Why the need to single out some other faith and what you incorrectly THINK they do, just to call them wrong??? Seems a tad disrespectful, don't you think?

When you say your religion isn't really a religion, what do you mean, exactly? That you don't have rules/traditions/etc that you preform regarding it? What exactly makes it NOT a religion? The only thing a religion is is a set of guidelines and beliefs to live one's life by.. so the only way I could figure your religion isn't really a religion is if you discard those things.. can you expound on that, please, since you wish for us to understand? Can you explain what you strip away from it to remove the religious aspects of it?

I believe it is ok for consenting adults to do anything they please so long as no one's rights are violated in the process. Free will and all that.. I don't believe it matters whether the bible condemns or condones it. It isn't a biblical matter what consenting adults choose to do unless they personally decide to make it one.
