Refusing 3hr and accepting results
I was just curious if any other mothers refused to take the 3 hr test and just accepted the initial failed result. I had GD last time and I know it was diet controlled and have all the equipment. I’ve been testing and watching diet since they told me. It just seems like a terrible thing to go in and do for my body and my baby when I already know I’m going to fail. And even in the off chance that I pass (which I’m not betting on) I just feel it’s better to take precautions. Aside from that I also have a 3 year old I would have to keep maintained in a lab for 3 hrs and I just don’t see any benefits of really going? I called my doctor and asked if I refused what negatives and all they said is that insurance won’t pay for diabetic supplies. I’ve already got everything, I know what I’m doing, and insurance won’t pay until I meet my deductible anyways so added negative is that It’s just costing me to take that test and whatever else the insurance is going to make me pay for in order to cover some potential costs. I’m just curious if anyone else has refused and what repercussions you came across in doing so. Thanks!
Oh, and also, if your supplies ore from your 3 year old, you will need new ones anyway. My daughter is 2 and they said they were all WAY too old to be accurate, and I did notice a big difference in my values when I got new stuff. So don't rely on your old supplies too much, just FYI.
I also had GD with my first pregnancy, so this time I asked to skip the 1 hour instead, and my dr sent me straight to a 2 hour. It at least saved me one trip to the lab and a couple of extra draws. I haven't had any problems with insurance or anything, they have all accepted the 2 hour as a diagnosis. I think it's just the 1 hour that is considered a "screening" and not a "test," so they won't accept that unless you're super high on it. Oddly enough I only failed by 4 points though, which is weird because my BG went up within a couple of weeks and I'm already on insulin 3 weeks later. Makes me wonder what would have happened if I passed, so I would have monitored myself as if I had it anyway just like you mentioned.
Thank you I will talk to my Dr and see if I can go without!
I also opted out of the 3-hour for the same reasons you mentioned - health concerns & sake of time w/a 2-year-old to consider. My midwife was fine with it. I got a 194 on the 1-hour, I think it was 185 the first time around. And I tested at 16 weeks this time. My insurance has covered everything.

So I scheduled my appointment for Thursday when my insurance is active! I'm just wondering if I should pay out of pocket to get a blood test done at this point 😩.
I hadn't been testing with fmu, so I just thought.. Let me test with my $1 test with fmu and see what happens (I've been testing with frer only - 1st Pic is the last one I took on Sat) and I got a faint line I think.. I've been getting negative with frer.
🤔
I feel like I'm going to drive myself crazy testing because I have to wait f...
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!
so I did my ffn test last Wednesday that came back negative which is great. well I checked my insurance claims. apparently my insurance doesn't cover it. My bill is $500. wtf. of course I don't have to pay the full amount upfront. but it still upsets me to get test done, not knowing if my insurance even covers it. or how much the test cost till I get the bill. My insurance company doesn't think the test is necessary and that it's experimental and investigational. so why would be doctor run the t...
Just learned that my insurance (Cigna) wont reimburse me for over $2600 i paid for maternity costs. (3 ultrasounds, 6 doctor visits and tests). Now i have Tricare and dont have to pay anything. Sad i wont get that money back, but happy my baby is healthy so far. I would pay every dime i have for him to be born healthy. Insurance and healthcare in America is a fucking joke!
Hey I’m Ciera me and my boyfriend have been trying to conceive with no luck we’ve been recently tracking my cycle and when I ovulate we think we may have a baby on the way I was wondering what early symptoms you can feel before you take a test my Brest are heavy and sore and I just know I’m pregnant but the test are negative with the help of other moms I can know if maybe I’m testing too early or if I’m just over thinking. If I’m pregnant I will be 2 weeks and 5 days !! #myfirstpost
I skipped my 3 hour and just excepted my 1 hour fail. Been diet and exercise controlled the whole time. No reason to put that nasty drink in your body a second time.
