Refusing 3hr and accepting results
I was just curious if any other mothers refused to take the 3 hr test and just accepted the initial failed result. I had GD last time and I know it was diet controlled and have all the equipment. I’ve been testing and watching diet since they told me. It just seems like a terrible thing to go in and do for my body and my baby when I already know I’m going to fail. And even in the off chance that I pass (which I’m not betting on) I just feel it’s better to take precautions. Aside from that I also have a 3 year old I would have to keep maintained in a lab for 3 hrs and I just don’t see any benefits of really going? I called my doctor and asked if I refused what negatives and all they said is that insurance won’t pay for diabetic supplies. I’ve already got everything, I know what I’m doing, and insurance won’t pay until I meet my deductible anyways so added negative is that It’s just costing me to take that test and whatever else the insurance is going to make me pay for in order to cover some potential costs. I’m just curious if anyone else has refused and what repercussions you came across in doing so. Thanks!
Oh, and also, if your supplies ore from your 3 year old, you will need new ones anyway. My daughter is 2 and they said they were all WAY too old to be accurate, and I did notice a big difference in my values when I got new stuff. So don't rely on your old supplies too much, just FYI.
I also had GD with my first pregnancy, so this time I asked to skip the 1 hour instead, and my dr sent me straight to a 2 hour. It at least saved me one trip to the lab and a couple of extra draws. I haven't had any problems with insurance or anything, they have all accepted the 2 hour as a diagnosis. I think it's just the 1 hour that is considered a "screening" and not a "test," so they won't accept that unless you're super high on it. Oddly enough I only failed by 4 points though, which is weird because my BG went up within a couple of weeks and I'm already on insulin 3 weeks later. Makes me wonder what would have happened if I passed, so I would have monitored myself as if I had it anyway just like you mentioned.
Thank you I will talk to my Dr and see if I can go without!
I also opted out of the 3-hour for the same reasons you mentioned - health concerns & sake of time w/a 2-year-old to consider. My midwife was fine with it. I got a 194 on the 1-hour, I think it was 185 the first time around. And I tested at 16 weeks this time. My insurance has covered everything.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!

Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
I skipped my 3 hour and just excepted my 1 hour fail. Been diet and exercise controlled the whole time. No reason to put that nasty drink in your body a second time.
