5 week olds screaming
My daughter is 5 weeks old and yesterday she took her last nap at 4 pm it was only twenty mins long , I put her to bed at 8 pm she was asleep by 830 pm I went to get up and she woke up immediately, after that she screamed and cried until 3am we did everything multiple times to see what was wrong what we could do to help her nothing was working , has anyone else's babies done this ? Did it continue nightly or just one time ? I felt like a horrible mother because I couldn't make my baby stop crying I couldn't help her :( I just started crying , my SO yelled at me to stop crying like I wasn't justified to do so like I shouldn't be upset that I was exhausted and my baby was still crying as he held her on his chest :( I still feel awful about it and I don't want it to happen again.. any advice would be great..
My son did this last night. Pretty sure his belly was upset because he was farting the whole time lol. It's not the first time either and I'm sure it won't be the last. I've had several nights where I was in tears because I was so tired, frustrated and just didn't know what else to do to make him stop crying. Your husband needs to be more understanding. You've gone through so much over the past 10+ months and yeah it makes you emotional when you're going on 0 sleep and can't do anything to help your baby.
You are not alone! My daughter is almost 6 weeks old and started getting fussy in the evening/night and also cries for a good amount of time until finally she is able to settle, nurse and sleep for the night
I know this is developmental and it's not our fault as moms. It is also linked to growth spurts so it is expected! They just need comfort and their digestive systems are still working it out. You can try din lights, white noise, swaddles, rocking, singing, nursing, etc. I go through my repertoire every night with different degree of success!. Taking turns is also helpful because it's exhausting on you. Be patient. It will pass.
My daughter just did this the other day. So far it's only happened once. We tried gripe water, took her outside, and ultimately what calmed her down was listening to the shower water. I just turned on the shower and stood there for at least 30 min. Once she was calm enough for a while, I sat and rocked her another 30 min. It took me about 4 hours to figure it out. I was also in tears. Husband also not very supportive, but luckily my mom was here visiting so she gave me 15 min breaks or so for me to regain my mentality and try again. Try anything and see if it works. Good luck!
She's so tired today she can't stay awake. I'm glad it's normal though.
This newborn phase comes with a period of purple crying. ссылка
Most babies go through this to varying degrees. It's probably caused by stomach upset due to an undeveloped digestive tract. They grow out of it as their digestive system matures.
It may happen again with your baby. The good news is it's normal, you're not failing as a parent and it's understandable that it wears on you and your partner emotionally. It's safe to lay baby down and go take a few deep breaths to help you get through it.
Update she didn't do it last night so I'm thinking her tummy was just upset , she slept great last night only waking for feeds :)
