My so doesn't want to either as he is scared of messing it up. I explained that it's unlikely but he's adamant about not doing it. I'm not bothered just so long as the cord is cut HA

My husband said the same, but when the option was there he cut our daughters cord with no questions asked i didn't even see it happening just a photo

Lol when I asked my boyfriend if he wanted to he said no because if she has an ugly belly button she will blame him when she gets older hahaha I had to explain him cutting the cord has nothing to do with how her belly button will look lol

I honestly haven't asked my SO, but I'm ?% sure he would refuse because of all things he hates blood and gore. Not saying the delivery of my baby will be arteries & splashing blood. But he'll get nauseous and nervous just standing there and like pp, he'd be afraid of messing up no matter what I tell him. I still think it would be a wonderful experience for him though.

Ok, so my husband can't stand the sight of blood, even the thought of my root canal creeped him out so much he got nauseous. But when I told my Dr that my husband wasn't sure if he'd cut the cord she told me that if he doesn't he'll regret it forever. She made the valid point that we don't know how many kids we'll be able to have (you never know if the 1 you have will be the only one you can have). If he didn't take the opportunity he'd regret not being able to have such a wonderful and special experience. So in light of that, he did it. He said he kept a tunnel vision on just the spot they told him to cut. He didn't look at anything else, and he said there was so little blood it didn't freak him out. Once he cut it, he looked away. He's very glad he did do it though, he admitted to me that it was such a great and heartwarming experience that he couldn't imagine not doing it. It allowed him to have a special bond with our son that I didn't have. *with baby inside you, you get to experience something he never will, so it's a thing that's only for him and is so special*. So maybe show him these responses, and see if it helps. If he still refuses, well that's up to him. But as my Dr said, he might end up regretting it. It's such an honour to be able to be a part of the baby's delivery that way. If he can't help you by taking away your pain (mine would have gladly taken my pain from me), then he can join in the joyous occasion with this small thing. Good Luck Mama, you've got this.

With my first I didn't have a choice, my daughter got stuck & didn't breath for about 2-3 mins after coming out. so I didn't even get delayed cord clamping like I wanted..
