After baby birth control

After baby birth control

So I’ve been wondering what to get on for birth control after I give birth. I have tried almost ever birth control method (except IUD) but they all gave my body bad reactions. I know for a fact progesterone gives me light but daily bleeding for months, Pills I forgot cause of my schedule and patch gave my sensitive skin rashes. Which ones are you ladies going to get on (if you choose that method) I just need to see options and others opinions.

Luckily, hubby agreed to getting the snip after this baby as we are done and I don't want anything tied / cauterized / removed from my body that doesn't absolutely need to be. However, after our first, I went on the mini pill because it was safe for breastfeeding and I honestly loved it. I have family history of varicose veins and clotting, but with the mini pill you're only getting one of the hormones as opposed to the full, combination birth control pills and the risk of those issues with the mini pill are gone. For that reason alone, I'd suggest the mini pill to others. I'd consider an IUD, but I've read way too many bad reviews and horror stories online and even in these forums to want to risk it. Everything from weight gain to it getting imbedded in you, to horribly painful insertion. Whatever you decide, research it as much as you can.

Good old fashioned family planning has always worked for us.

But I also did have trouble conceiving so this could be a little risky for others.

I'd talk to your doctor.

Well after I have this baby I'm getting an IUD(Mirena) and my husband is getting snipped just in case lol. I love IUDs, I got one after I had my daughter 12 years ago and never had a problem. The one I got after I had her was called Paraguard and it lasted for 10 years then I had to switch to the Mirena, which lasts 5 years because of insurance coverage. I got it taken out so we could have this baby and it's going right back in after.

I would like my husband to get a vasectomy but I don't think he wants that so I'm thinking about the IUD. We definitely don't want anymore children. I will also talk to my Dr about getting my tubes tied.

I have always used the depo. People say it is bad for your body but i like it becasue I don't have a period and besides that have never gotten pregnant while on it. Every 6 months I have to get blood work but for me it is worth it.

I don't recommend the Mirena brand of IUD. First, it punctured my cervix...and then this little guy due in March was conceived while it was in.....soooooooo yeah. But everyone has different experiences. Just have to choose what works for you. I liked the NuvaRing much better but my hubby and I both decided to cut, burn and severe everything lol.

Vasectomy is the only solution that I can see in the future....baby#4 and second accident.

I'm super sensitive to hormones too. The pill made me feel crazy. I thought getting the IUD after my first was going to be a god send. But it actually made me gain tons of weight, have a period every other week, I dealt with depression for the first time in my life, and to top it all off it took 5.5 years for us to get pregnant again after having it removed. I won't use anything but condoms now.

I've tried both depo and an IUD

Depo - made me have strange cycle patterns and so random

IUD - caused me pain and when inserted caused dizziness as when removed the same reaction as insert plus I felt like I had no control of my body and I hated that

My husband and i joke he says his pull out game failed him lol because weve been together 10 yrs and this is the only baby that was a total surprise. Weve just used the pull out method all along but i think were going for him to get a vasectomy

Anything hormonal has always been bad for me. I have thyroid problems and I just think all the combos of hormones just messes me up. So I am gonna talk to my doctor about a cervical cap and spermicide and also pulling out on top of all that. Lol we are fine with more babies so if something happens we won't mind. But hoping it works until we decide to actually try again. I had the mirena for 2 years and it took us 15 months to conceive this baby when it took 3 to conceive our other babies.

I used the nuvaring for 5 years after I had my son and got pregnant with this one the first month we were trying! I'll have to look and see if I can use it while breastfeeding, if so I will use that, if not, mini pill until done breastfeeding then nuvaring.
