Since when is that okay? Is it a new thing? Our pediatrician said I can start giving my 6 month old ANYTHING except honey. She said I can give him peanut butter too. Whhaaaat?? I'm not comfortable with that. I think I'll wait.
I read it's now recommended and they think it will help prevent peanut butter allergy. In a few years it will probably change again... do what ever is comfortable for you.

I gave my son PB and banana right around 6 months. He had no reaction.

We waited until 12 months with our oldest and he had no nut allergies. I introduced it early with my 3rd baby and he was allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. We have no family history of nut allergies. There is still so much they don't know about what causes allergies. If you are nervous about early introduction then you can talk to an allergist about their recommendation.

I didn't give my daughter PB at 6 months, but it was definitely a few months before she turned one. No one on either side of the family has allergies to it and I also lived a couple blocks from the ER entrance of my local hospital so I wasn't too worried about it.

Yup.
I did it this way:
day 1- put a dab on his arm
Day 2- nothing
3- again on the arm
4- on his cheek
5 - nothing
6- on his lip
7- on his tongue
After a week I wasn't concerned with him eating it.

We introduced it early. Not 6 months, maybe 9. But not becuase I was afraid of allergy. I just wanted him to get used to other goods first.
Go with what you're comfortable with.

If you've got concerns, buy a bag of peanuts. Put them on the tray Infront of your child, if they are severely allergic they'll have a reaction just being in close proximity, maybe let child move them about etc, just not eat them, watch for a change on the skin incase of a contact reaction. Maybe then touch one to their lips so they get a taste, if no reaction give a thin covering on a slice of toast. They're likely to wear more of it than eat if your doing baby led weaning. If your seriously concerned get one of the pens to counter the reaction.

I personally waited until 12 months, but you don't have to. Do whatever you're comfortable with.

Yep- everything except honey from 6 months. The advice was right.

My husband and I disagreed on this, I said 1 year so he asked our pediatrician and she confirmed that studies show that the earlier a child is introduced the less likely they are to an allergic reaction. She said to avoid cows milk and honey until after 1. She told me honey is best to avoid until even later and should really only be given after 1 on rare occasions to help with a bad cough.
Wow so it's okay then? Crazy. Lol. I'm so scared about him having an allergic reaction. No allergies in my family but I don't know about his dads family.

I had the same reaction when my dr told me the same thing a few months ago. My older kids are 8 and 11 and I swear I had so many "none of this until this age" rules back then. This time around when she said "anything but honey" I was like what?! And worried that she was crazy, lol.

I plan on letting her have a taste of it while we're in the parking lot of the pediatrician. She'll be 6 months tomorrow and has her appointment in a week.
Just in case!

My kids tried everything but honey from 6 months. And, ate everything without teeth as well (neither one of them got teeth until they were almost a year old!). My son was just recently diagnosed with a severe tree but allergy but he actually at them when he was younger with no problems.

I just had my daughters 6month appt today too.
Doc said everything except honey, cows milk, and eggs.
She said I can start with puréed foods but once she gets the chewing motion down she can have almost anything. And once she gets her teeth she can have the rest.
Crazy right?

Yes that's right.

I gave it at 9 months in the parking lot of the Pediatrician's office while we were there for a well visit. New studies are showing introducing it early reduce the risk of an allergy. If there are allergies in your family, that changes things.

I didn't give my son peanut butter until closer to 1 but that's because my brother had a severe allergic reaction to peanut butter when he was a baby and I was slightly paranoid. But I know most people give kids peanut butter and they are fine

I was told I could give anything at 6 months (besides honey) when my son was born almost 4 years ago.

I started it at 4 months

Our pediatrician said the same thing because there is no history of nut allergies in our family. Our daughter immediately loved peanut butter. I think she was more like 8 months when I gave it to her. But at 6 months he said I could. I think if there is any family history of nut allergies they would tell you to wait.

I fed my kids practically everything starting from 6 months on

I didn't give it to my oldest until she was 11 months old. She turned out to have an allergic reaction. As of late she hasn't had a reaction. We introduced it to my second daughter before she turned one, I think. My memory is foggy on when.

It's actually best to introduce peanut butter at 6 months! Pretty sure studies show it is best to fight off peanut allergies when PB is introduced early.

Yes, newer studies have shown that waiting can cause allergic reactions. That being said I did wait until DS was closer to a year before introducing peanut butter due to family history.
