CIO

At 11 days old??

Комментарии

I don't agree with this method at all. My son is only 2 weeks 4 days old and tonight my partner suggested we try it if nothing else works.

Hell to the no. Not going to happen. Maybe when he is much older but to let a newborn cry it out is just downright cruel in my eyes.

No a thousand times over. That's absurd.

I didn't do CIO till fairly recently (my daughter is 10.5 months) but I only let her cry at most 5 minutes before going in and soothing then walk out and she usually is just fine.

I won't leave my almost 11 month old to CIO - I certainly wouldn't leave such a tiny baby.

They're only little for so long. Enjoy cuddling her!

Babies especially infants learn to trust and feel safe when they cry and you pick them up. It's good for brain development. You're teaching the baby that he or she is in a safe world. At least that's what I learned in my last baby class.

No. You're baby!

She deleted her comments ?

For 9 months a baby has been nice and cosy, food provided all the time then bam! One day it all changes, everything is new, they have to cry for food, it's not so cosy all the time, they just want to be held for comfort.

A new born baby isn't thinking about getting its own way, it doesn't want to self soothe it just wants comfort and to feel close to warmth!

Her baby is even only about a month old ? they don't need 5-10 mins to cry. That could be 5-10 mins of happiness if you pick up the poor baby.

THE BABY IS 11 DAYS OLD.

Are you serious pp? She should listen and let her 11 day old baby cio?

What the hell is wrong with people! Who could possibly let a baby that young cio, it breaks my heart. In my eyes it's child abuse to let a baby that young cio!

I can't believe someone has said to listen to them!

I would listen to them wen my daughter was born she slept with me she is 10 months and wont sleep in her bed if i put her there she screams and wont stopi know its hard but in the long run u both will be happy

Disgusting. At any age CIO is not the answer.

With older babies, controlled CIO can be effective to teach self soothing but at 11 days baby needs the comfort of mum. The first 3 months after birth have been dubbed 'the fourth trimester' where baby has to adjust to life outside the womb. Closeness and comfort are vital.

So sad. When they are much older I can kinda understand CIO, but when they are so little and can't possibly understand why their needs aren't being met, it breaks my heart.

At 11 days old your baby is still freaked out about all the changes, lo just spent 9 months cuddled inside you always hearing your heart beating and you breathing, always warm and snug, most people don't seem to think about that and realize a baby needs time to adjust. And it's not suggested to start cio until at least 6 months old, but I don't agree with cio, babies cry for a reason, it's their only way to communicate something's not right to them.

Even if a person is CIO supporter, that's way way too young. He just needs his momma.

@bmjenki

Yeah I can't remember who but someone suggested I put my baby on a schedule too. Um...no. I feed him on demand.

Нравится Ответить

Nope.. no ... not... my lo is almost a month old and is never far from my side... her dad keeps telling me to let her cry. .. i told him if he kept it up he would be crying

Нравится Ответить

No!!!!!!

This whole CIO method can go to hell. I had someone suggest not feeding my LO on demand "so I can get him on a schedule." He was less than a month old...

I hate how much some people don't understand babies survival instincts. Babies cry and need to be close to mom because it's their survival instincts. they are primitive and are not able to care for themselves so they cry to get the attention of their caretaker to care for them. They need to be close for protection. Not responding to them makes them feel vulnerable and scared. Scared babies are not able to learn as efficiently because all of their energy is going into stress. Babies who feel safe = happy baby.

Good for you for listening to your instincts to respond to baby and not this cultural misinformation.

Mean person! At least you know who NOT to leave your baby with!

Нравится Ответить

No way. They want and need love and comfort. I personally hate the CIO method...

At 11 days old?! That's so sad to me, babies need their mama.
