corpus luteum
Has any one else had this and had issues during their pregnancies? I have one on my right ovary and from what I've been reading it makes me so nervous for our Lil DNA. I have had a lot of pain on my right side which is actually how I found out I was pregnant. This pregnancy was so unexpected but so welcomed and I would be more than crushed if something happened and so would my husband.

What is it?

Like a cyst is what I've read

A cyst from where you ovulated.! It's usually not harmful unless it stays too long and could twist or rupture but that's rare

Do you know how long til it goes away I will be 9 weeks tomorrow? And it's still there? I know no one here is a doctor but I don't wanna call mine cause I have an appointment Tuesday?

I'm friends with a labor and delivery nurse and she told me they go away around like 10wks. And that they are good for the baby in those beginning weeks.

Thank you so much that makes me feel much better. I hate always being in pain but as long as it's not dangerous i won't worry lol

It's a good thing! The cyst forms from the follicle with which u ovulated when pregnancy occurs. It is responsible for releasing progesterone to maintain a healthy pregnancy and reduces when the placenta starts working from around 10 weeks. Nothing to worry about!

It's a good thing, nothing to worry about, mine was still there at 9 weeks and had horrific pain from it. It will disappear as the placenta takes over?

Agree with everyone else. Their supposed to be there. They help maintain the pregnancy :)

I got pain from mine at about 9 or 10 weeks. Was sharp and took my breath away for an hour or so but had nothing since. X

I ovulated from both sides and my right CL was giving me quite a bit of pain for a couple weeks. When I went in for the US last week (I was 8w2d at the time) they said that the right CL was going away but the left one was still pretty big. They told me not to worry and that they'll check it again at my 20 week scan. I'm pretty certain when the left CL goes away it's going to be painful because the right one was but its all part of the process I guess!

During my 1st pregnancy I was in the ER for pain at 6w. An ultrasound found a sac, baby, and heartbeat but also saw a "ring of fire" (cyst-like with blood around it) in one of my ovaries. It was diagnosed as a possible ectopic OR corpus luteal cyst. Long story short, I followed up with my OB the next day, the pain only came 1-2 more times, and I went on to have a normal pregnancy. It must've been a cyst that took care of itself. My OB wasn't too concerned. Like most PP said, the cyst is a good thing for the pregnancy. :)

I had one with my first pregnancy it was early on and it turned into a hemorrhage, docs said it has a chance it will rupture but thank god it resolved on its own... no bleeding what so ever.

I was told by an ultrasound tech/ nurse that you will have a cyst on whatever ovary you ovulated from but will go away you have the baby. That's how I knew my egg came from the right ovary because of that cyst
