We are having a terrible past few days. His bilirubin levels are 14.1 and I guess 15 is too high so he is being treated for 24 hours under the lamp for a prevention measure I guess. I haven't caught a break at all in this whole thing and it's really wearing on me. I cried the whole time they put the little eye mask on him and he was crying. It's hard that I can't do anything about it, I gave him a paci for the first time because I didn't know what else to do to help soothe him. I didn't even want to use pacifiers :(

Chels4, it's heartbreaking! Glad our littles are okay though. His level was 8 today which they're happy with.

Sweetness, glad I'm not the only one over here crying about everything! I cried when I had a spinal headache and it hurt me to sit up and feed him, I cried the first time they said I couldn't go home because of preeclampsia, I cried when they said he had to stay under the lamp for a night and I cried when he would get blindfolded and go under there. A lot of crying haha.

Aww mama it will be okay. I got scared my little one was at 11. But they did blood work and that came back normal, so she just has to follow up with pediatrician. They reminded me how it's pretty common that babies have high jaundice. We just have to be positive. I totally understand the crying feeling. I been a mess! I cry so much. It hurt when I see she crying and I can't do anything about it. It's just our hormones...

Thanks ladies! He's gotten used to it more I think and cries less so it makes it a little easier.

Just be strong for him boo boo?

I am so sorry. I hope his levels drop fast and he gets used to being on the outside soon. Try not to worry too much about the paci if you can. It really is soothing to them and my daughter went straight for them but nursed like a champ too. It's never all or nothing. Hope you get some relief soon. ??

Mine has blocked me and all of my friends on social media.... because apparently that will stop child support papers from coming ?

I feel terrible for you girl. You've had a hell of a few days. :(

Hopefully this is very temporary and he will be home soon.

Try not to stress about the paci. We started one on night one with my daughter and she nursed fine for a year. I gave my son one on day two this time and he's doing great with latching and feeding too. The soothies that you are using are the best for breastfed babies, IMO.

Sending you lots of good vibes to get out of there soon with a healthy baby.

I'm sorry, that has to be hard... There are SO many things I didn't think i would ever do as a mom. I have a 4.5 and 2.5yr old now and I can assure you a pacifier if he needs it will not ruin anything!! They only need someone who loves them and provides for them... and you're doing that PERFECTLY!

Ashly, I have not heard from his father. I did hear that he got his leaving base privileges revoked for not checking out vehicles properly and apparently he was out all night until the next day. So I asked what he could possibly be doing out all night and I guess the only thing he could be doing is at a Kurdish brothel. He's disgusting.

Thanks for all the kind words and reassurance! I know he will be okay and I guess it is better to do this now than to wait and they end up elevated and I can't have a bed to stay with him in the hospital. I just hate not being able to hold him. I can only hold him every two-three hours for 30 minutes when I feed him.

My second daughter had to be under bili light for 48hrs and had a blood transfusion. Her bilirubin levels were 32 when I brought her back to the hospital the day after slew went home. Your numbers are so low that I know he's going to be alright!! It's stressful, but only temporary.

Don't be too hard on yourself. He will be just fine and he wont need pacifiers just because you wanted to sooth him this time. I know its hard. I cried when they gave my son his vaccines last time. You are going to be emotional and i think you are handling all this wonderfully. Positive thoughts to you and your sweet baby boy.

My hospital doesn't do lights until 18. It should clear up fast!! My daughters was 8.. then 12.. then 14.. then dropped back down with just a little sunlight

I went through this with my first. Do they have the biliblanket where you can wrap him up to nurse & cuddle? We wound up having to give my son a bottle of formula and I was devastated at the time, but it did help flush his system. Just try to nurse him as much as possible to get lots of dirty diapers! Best of luck, everything will work out!

Remember back to the very beginning and I'm sure you had moments of "I'll never get through this" and you did, with style and grace that that loads of us from all over the world admire, and you'll get through this. You made a beautiful and strong little boy, and together you'll conquer anything!

I know this doesn't help right now.... but soon this will be a distant memory and you will be home with your sweet baby boy. Take it hour by hour! You can do this!???

I'm sorry it's been tough and it's not how you imagined. But you're doing an amazing job and you'll have him home before you know it! Stay strong! Xxxxx ❤️❤️

Have you heard anything from the dad? I'm curious to see if my douche will try to contact me, however, I'm most certain he won't.

I'm so sorry! I went through that with my first so I know how hard it is! Hang in there mama, pretty soon you will be able to take him home!!!

One suggestion that worked for me to avoid pacis was to use my knuckle to sooth baby. Some nurses would do it with a glove on if they needed to soothe baby without a paci. No nipple confusion and it helps. Just a suggestion

Aww I'm sorry! You're doing a great job and he's going to do great!
