In my feelings
Someone called my dog fat & I'm seriously so pissed off. He's not fat, but he has gained weight and isn't lean like he was. Mainly because I'm freaking about to be 9 months pregnant and I can't run with him almost every day and hike like I used to. He still goes on walks and he will only play ball but only for so long before he gets bored. I'm already sensitive about that subject because I'm single and pregnant and can't give my dogs the same exercise I used to, nor do I have someone else to do it ?.

Aww. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just think, soon you and Caellum will be bopping around in his stroller with your dog enjoying the world together. Summer is coming and the weather will be nice.

You're right! I do have my Bob stroller now. But still, you don't insult mama bear's babies. And my dogs are my babies lol. God I can only imagine the first time some kid bullies my son. Or especially if an adult says something to him out of line, I'm going to see red.

Oh god. Can people just shut up? Don't feel bad Hun, you're trying to be the best momma you can to both your fur and human babies. It's not like you're over feeding him and giving him dangerous snacks... god. Mom shaming already and we haven't even given birth...

Omg. The opposite just happened to me. Someone said my dog is too skinny. She's a pit and weighs 60lbs, extremely active, and has an excellent feeding schedule. The vet said she's perfectly fine but it pissed me off someone had the nerve to go on and on about how skinny she is. I wanted to punch them.
NewMommy·
Peasfairy, he eats the same amount so maybe that's the problem. And it's expensive high quality food. Maybe I should cut back since he's not as active. I'll have to ask the vet! I don't think he's fat though, he was just very lean before.
NewMommy·
Dreaminofnow, people used to call him too skinny too!!!! I can't win lol. He's meant to be more lean so I do need to get him to lose a little weight but it's not like he's obese and being abused.

I read that as someone called you a fat dog and was raging for you!! ? People always have opinions about pets for some reason, I've had someone say I should be putting both my dogs on a lead and spending the day walking to help with Labour, nice in theory but they're two big labs, very strong, and I'm knackered with SPD. Ignore them, if the person was that bothered they'd offer to walk him for you, otherwise it's just the usual bumping gums because they can.

I know exactly what you mean; our dogs are our babies! This woman we met on a walk told me maybe a year ago that my dog desperately needed a bath. She didn't, but I've felt guilty about not keeping her as well groomed since our daughter was born. It was so random (and the woman seemed a bit off) but it still pops into my head sometimes! ?

Maria, I still take him on walks. We just don't go on runs and hikes like we used to. It is hard to run now with a baby bouncing on my bladder and plus I started getting cramps. But you're right, everyone does have an opinion and thinks they are a know it all.
NewMommy·
MrsFloppyBunny, one time a little girl said my lab needed a bath lol. But that's another struggle while pregnant, is giving two big dogs a bath. He ended up getting one not long after though.

Think sometimes people just like the sound of their own voices. If you're anything like me your dogs are your babies and you'll 100% be doing your very best for them. Let it go over your head, as long as you and yours are doing good no one else really matters.
NewMommy·
Maria, my dogs are definitely a little spoiled! I don't overindulge them in food and treats but they get all kinds of expensive chews and toys.

Ugh seriously I don't get why people comment on people's children or pets like as long as they are not in harm STFU! Also not sure if they have it around you but we put our furbaby in doggie daycare once a week, my husband travels and I can run him the way I used to and it helps his energy levels he loves it!! Obviously not necessary but it did help me with some mommy guilt about not being able to do what I used to.
NewMommy·
Agarske, I feel the same! But I can't justify doggy daycare anymore when he plays all day with my other dog and he gets to run around in my big backyard. He used to go when I had a tiny apartment in San Diego.

Just a thought, instead of cutting back maybe switch to a lower calorie option of the same type? We had to do that with our two. We tried just cutting back the normal food but their tummies grumbled all the time and I felt like they were always hungry. We switched to a lower calorie option but same name brand and it seems to work. My labs are very lean so I usually get told the opposite, that they are too skinny. Can't win!

I cal my dog fatty ?
He's considered big for his breed lol
NewMommy·
I need to take him to a vet first to evaluate. He honestly is not fat at all, but his breed (Dutch shepherd) is supposed to be very lean and active. He just isn't as lean anymore so someone who thought they were an expert in the breed (who was actually new to the breed) had the audacity to call him fat.

I'm sorry but this is so funny ? it's ok mama. Our babies are right around the corner and you can get back into routine. I get the my dog looks skinny all the time because I change her haircut styles constantly. Ignore them you can never win with people who want to have opinions. If they felt that strongly about it they would have asked if you ever needed any help that they would walk your dog
NewMommy·
I've always been a little crazy when it comes to my dogs lol. Insult me and it's fine but you insult my dogs and I will begin plotting 100 ways to destroy you in my head. Same with family. Only I can talk crap about my family lol.

i agree how rude? Dogs are like family and its nobodies place to comment on his/her size. My brother raises dash hounds and honestly doxie owners are such a holes and everyone always used to comment on how "Wild" his dog was (my doggy nephew) and i would get SO PISSED.
