Yup I get them from time to time-I found out putting hydrogen peroxide on it constantly clears it up really fast to anything else I've tried! Made a big difference for me-try that with yours after it leaks

I have those. My doctor gave me antivirals - valciclor I think - might be under different name in us. Take two pills 12 hrs apart and it never really comes out. Save for pregnancy.

I'll give the peroxide a try. Abreva usually worked pretty well for shortening the outbreak time in the past but I just don't know if it will be different while being pregnant. I guess I'll call the ob office on Monday.

I just got one a couple weeks ago and used abreva and kicked it in the butt. I caught it before it got bad so it wasn't too awful to deal with. They suck tho!

I found covering the area with sudocrem (the nappy/diaper rash cream) works for me.

I've gotten them a lot this pregnancy. I just take lysine (amino acid that heals) and B vitamins. I use organic lip balm to help it heal. They haven't lasted very long but have come back probably because of stress. I find that I break out when I'm stressed or eat too much sugar.

you're going to think I'm crazy, but I swear by it. Use after shave!! I've used it on my last couple and they never even come up. The sore doesn't even appear. My ex even does it now and swears by it. I just buy the cheapest one I can find!

Thanks ladies! It's nice to know there are cheaper options than Abreva. My cold sores usually go away pretty fast anyway and usually don't get very big. They're just so annoying. I'm also nervous about passing them to my son like my dad passed them to me.

If you are super freaking out about getting them you can ask for the Valtrex prescription- low dose. You take it daily to prevent any outbreaks. I am considering it since herpes in children under 1 can have devastating effects.

Patrycjalai, that's a good idea. Because I definitely don't want to be worried about not kissing my baby. I probably wouldn't kiss him on the mouth much but still.

I know - just another thing that I wouldn't need to worry. I'm hoping my kid would be a symptomatic anyway - hubby never got any outbreak for the last 6 years and there is simply now way he didn't got it from me since we share everything. I myself got it from the kid I babysat, he got it from his dad. He was around two when he had first outbreak and I felt horrible for him - he was in so much pain as his sores were inside his mouth - eating was painful for him so he lived on yogurts. And there was no way I wasn't going to hold him and let him cuddle when he was crying. That was one of the longest weeks. Poor baby. I wouldn't wish it to anyone.
