I know some ladies are worried about weight gain. I thought this might help.

I think that your body has extra work to do so they assume you will lose body fat but maintain with baby weight. I was 90 pounds over my "ideal" weight. I lost 23 pounds since becoming pregnant and I have only gained about 6 pounds of that back so I am still -17 pounds at 25.3 weeks
My dr said 15-20 pounds bc she put me in the overweight column at the beginning but I was barely overweight. Still don't really get that bc do they expect overweight women to lose weight?
Thanks for this?
Im 25+3 and I've gained 19½ lbs so far, I was following slimming world before i got pregnant and lost 3 stone 5lb. I'm still following the plan loosely, not to lose weight, just to control my weight gain.
My midwife said yesterday that I have gained 26½lbs! How can she be so wrong? I know how much I've gained because its written in my slimming book every week! She is now saying that she needs to monitor my weight gain closely because I should only gain between 11 and 20lbs through my whole pregnancy ?
I came away feeling really bad, like I had done something wrong.
This matches what my midwife told me. She said 25-35 but she thinks 30 would be perfect for me. I know they do recommend a little more for underweight women and a little less for overweight women. At least that's what the information I've been given says.
My dr told me to only gain 15-20 pounds. Ya right! This chart seems more realistic. I've been asking friends and family and the average they've told me is 30-40 pounds with healthy babies so that's my goal :)
Ashley, I wouldn't worry, some just don't gain. I had another scan Monday and baby grew 8oz in 2 weeks and weighs 1.3lbs and I haven't gained a pound. I gained 13 with my last and he was over 8lbs and I didn't gain any of that til 37 weeks
And my obstetrician wants a gain of 5-9kg (12-20ish lbs) pppfft silly doctor ?
I like this diagram
I have yet to gain weight at almost 24 weeks so the doctor is having me come in two weeks early. I'm measuring fine and they say baby looks fine but I think they may send me for another growth scan.
I was just talking about this today. I'm so worried I'm going to gain too much weight. Between my two kids and work I rarely have the energy to exercise anymore and my eating habits someday are horrible.
I appreciate this picture though lol. I'm so ready to see 30 pounds drop off in the first week lmao wishful thinking.
I had a eating disorder when I was younger. I focus on actually not weighing myself and more so on how I feel. I bounced back super fast last time with breastfeeding and clean eating.
I just see a lot of women posting about being worried about weight gain, thought this might help some!
Kitty, I'm not an expert on pregnancy weight gain but I do know every woman is different! As long as you and baby are healthy, things are all good!
I feel like my breasts are way more than 1-2 lbs too! Lol. But, I do understand it's hard to find balance between not gaining too much and not gaining enough. I'm on track (and could even stand to gain a couple more pounds) by all my weight gain calculators and charts, but at one point I literally gained 2 lbs in two days. It leveled off but still, it was crazy.
Thanks for posting, I'm happy to gain 30 lbs in this Pregnancy but I know some women on here are trying to gain as little as possible. Please everyone just relax and let your body do what it has to do. You are supposed to gain.
I will be 41 :/
Short Luteal Phase? I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
Things I never thought I'd say... Until I became a mom:
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Weight gain recommended by your doctor is based off your starting weight. I was extremely fit, just got married so I was working my ass off hahaha Less than 12% body fat. So she told me 30-40 lbs is my target weight gain. At 26w4d I've gained 22 lbs so I'm right on track. Don't ever go off of what others gain. We all have different body types so comparing apples to oranges isn't going to do anything other than drive you crazy and make you feel bad. Just listen to your doctor. If they are concerned then that's when you should be.
