Pregnancy as an excuse

I work in a hospital. We have 2 elevators for employees-visitors and 2 reserved for patients or employees moving equipment. There was an employee waiting for her elevator and it was taking a long time. The reserved elevator opened and she asked "Can I hop in? I'm going to the 4th floor but I'm pregnant" We were on the 3rd floor.

I'll say it.

Sometimes after throwing up all morning, I was exhausted and wanted to be lazy. I had nothing extreme, didn't actually look pregnant with clothes on until about 30 weeks, and sometimes I just got lazy. It happens.

Unless you know her very well, please don't judge. I've had severe SPD with both of my pregnancies. This time it started since I was 9 weeks and you could not tell I was pregnant, but stairs are a huge NO-NO for women with SPD. Heck, my PT has recommended me to avoid even walking long distances. By 20 weeks my OB gave me an order to get a handicap parking placard in the DMV. Pregnancy affects differently every woman, physically and emotionally. Be supportive instead of judgmental.

Don't judge, sorry but that's my take on it. She may not have looked far along, but everyone carries differently. Two of my sils are pregnant, and their due dates are four days apart both with boys. One barely looks pregnant, the other looks like she could pop any day now and they're not due until the end of July. She could have placenta previa (sp?) and have no choice but to take the elevator.

I'm judging because I know my SIL and I know how lazy she is. There is literally nothing wrong with her at all. She was the same way during her first pregnancy. Other people that I don't know? To each their own. I don't pay any attention. Lol.

I worked 60hr weeks up until a week before I had 2 of my kids. With my last couple I've been pretty much helpless. I'm a couple weeks further along than my sister. She works with my dh and they work hard. I know he's thinking I'm being a big boob compared to her.

Totally used it as an excuse to my husband to get him take on more responsibility around the house since he wants to be a stay at home dad so bad. It's pretty much not looking good for him.

The people who have said i did this and I did that while I was pregnant there is no excuse, that's great for you! Some people would love to be able to do that but can't as they may be are high risk or some people have other problems. Don't judge people! just because you can do something with ease doesn't mean other people can. ?

I worked up until my due date- 40 hour weeks on my feet with no sitting. I ran 2 stores when I was 8 months. Unless you have a medical reason, I really wish women would stop using pregnancy like a handicap. It's not like you woke up pregnant one day like the flu

I have severe asthma, one flight of stairs while pregnant can leave me sitting on the floor gasping for breath.don't judge.

I had horrible spd with both pregnancies before I started showing. I was told clearly to avoid stairs at all costs. Noone knows what spd is so telling anyone would have been pointless, but I also never said it was because I was pregnant (even though it pretty much was). I would just mumble sorry and push the button for the next floor. It was very embarrassing. I'm sure people judged me. But I also would have never asked to get on a reserved elevator unless the regular was broken.

I suffered from sciatica whilst I was pregnant and would still walk a flight of stairs, if I had say 3 or 4 levels to go I'd take the lift!

I found the people I worked with always offered to do things for me if it meant extra walking or going upstairs but I preferred to do it myself, I appreciated the offer though!

I'm currently being told off by both of our neighbors for stacking firewood ... Apparently I'm not allowed to do that but my husband is away... I caught them secretly doing a load while I was making my daughter dinner! Ha ha I love my neighbors but I know my limits and am very careful - it's slow going when you can only lift a couple of logs at a time!

I worked with a woman who was due 2 months later than me. I had dislocated my shoulder and had a month off work, came back for 4 weeks then went on maternity leave at 39 weeks. On one of my last days I walked around the entire school (3 floors, didn't trust the lift several people had been stuck previously) distributing letters. Got to the nursery where she worked and she was sitting in a chair refusing to move and help the children as she had been for at least 3 months. She started complaining about how hard it was to do anything, then asked me when I was due. She was mortified when she found out I only had a week to go, so bad she actually stood up and spoke to a child. Some people just take advantage- she's definitely one of them.

We had a code blue at work when I was 27-28 weeks pregnant. My ass ran across the office to get the crash cart. I held my belly and ran, with people staring at me and scolded me later. Sorry, not using pregnancy as an excuse to let someone die. I literally worked until the day before I delivered both my kids.

I lied. I use it as an excuse to my husband. If I ask him to do something and he doesn't want to, I do say, "Don't worry about it. You just relax. I'm just creating human life here!"

He's wonderful though. I just give him a hard time!

Not all pregnancies are the same. Even if someone isn't showing yet they could be high risk. Try not to judge if you don't know the situation.

I haven't used it as an excuse, but people definitely handicap me for it. I'm 23 weeks and am noticeably pregnant. I attempted to bend down and pick something up from the floor and someone said no and rushed to my aid. The cashier at Walmart wouldn't let me put my items on the belt and she loaded them in the cart for me afterwards.

STAIRS ARE GOOD FOR YOU especially when you're pregnant. Lol I've have three major knee operations and still use the stairs at 36 weeks. I also don't have any complications with my pregnancy though.

At my doctors office with all 3 pregnancies I always took the elevator. It wasnt until my 3rd pregnancy, after going there for 6 years, that I finally found the stairs.

Okay this isn't a pregnant excuse but definitely a ridiculous excuse that I have to share. I was visiting my aunt at her house....my uncle asked their son to unload the dishwasher. My aunt chimed in and said, "you know he can't do that...he DOES have one leg longer than the other" Her husband just looked at her like, "what? Wtf" lol I just had to share because it's too outrageous not to lol

Yeah I still take the stairs but I can't do walk around wal mart for more than 15 minutes. I get soo dizzy and nauseous.

To answer the question, I worked with this girl at a daycare when I was pregnant with dd1, I was 38 weeks at the time. She was pregnant too. Not high risk, nothing. Just a normal pregnancy. She was in her second trimester and still barely showing. Well, she made me put the kids in the high chairs ( some 2 years olds) because she was pregnant and her back hurt. Like... do you not think mine does?! She got fired shortly after.

ETA: she got fired because of something unrelated to this. Just to clarify.

Oh s*** . Tons. My SO's brothers baby momma (ha she doesn't deserve to be called a "mother" since she doesn't take care of her children) makes him pack the pot.

She can't go get her own food in a restaurant, she can't go get her wallet from her purse in their vehicle, she has gained a TON of weight because she won't do anything for herself and says "I'm eating for two." Won't take care of her son at night when he's up sick etc because she's "sleeping for two". The list goes on.

I bet people thought bad things about me all the time in the beginning of my pregnancy. I developed really bad vertigo on my 1st trimester, on top of extreme nausea. There were so many things I couldn't do. Stairs being one of them.

My Ob's office is on the second floor and those stairs kill me. I always take the elevator up and the stairs down lol. I can't really talk because I use the "because I'm pregnant" excuse all the time. I mean come on, you only get to use it for 9 months, may as well milk it for all it's worth!

need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.

I need to vent I'm so tired of this man I swear if we were married right now I would bury his ass. So I'm trying to get dress and my son is coming off the bed mind you this house is wood floor and wood every thing in this bedroom. Well this fool I call my fiancé was watching my child come off the bed and just watch him fall back off the edge hitting his head on the hard wood floor and when I pick him up trying to calm him down. He wants to get mad at me because I won't pass him MY crying son please. I'm so tired man he don't get it. I hate sitting in this house and just cooking and cleaning this is not I love Lucy my nigg. Then like he didn't even by my engagement ring I bought my own ring like tf... I'm tired of his complaining ass. I can't do this anymore I'm trying for the sake of my unborn child but I think I was ment to be single. Ugh I'm stuck I don't know what to do. If this is what it's going to be like when we're married I don't want it. HELP ME !!!!

Okay. Now I'm panicked. Which I say a lot. But..now my anxiety is making it 10x worse. So non essential companies are supposed to close, send employees home until this is cleared by 8pm tonight. Hubby's company is trying to find out with their lawyers if their company is essential or not. They make windows. For major companies. They have asked before and we're denied being "essential". So most likely they will be denied again. So they told employees if this is the case, they must use vacation hours before going for unemployment. We are a one income family. We only survive bc of his job and his little side jobs combined. We get snap, but not very much. We have money set aside from taxes, so that'll carry us a bit....but im....really afraid. Maybe I'm over exaggerating. But this is how I feel
