Defiantly??
I often read "defiantly" instead of "definitely" on here? Why is that? It's not even pronounced "defiantly"! English is my second language, but this particular mistake has been bothering me for a while!!

I have to agree with Ophelia, I CANNOT STAND when people say "pregnate." It's PREGNANT PEOPLE!!! Come on now, it's not to that hard. If you don't know how to spell just Google the word. -___-

My phone tried to autocorrect fetuccini to fetuses the other day. I almost asked my husband if we were eating babies for dinner :)
deleted-user·
I don't care for auto correct one bit. I turned it off an my phone.
deleted-user·
That's hilarious.
deleted-user·
Lmao I have nooo idea!
deleted-user·
Wtf is penisespenos?? Haha.
deleted-user·
My phone just autocorrected penises too penisespenos! Wtf right?
deleted-user·
@laughingwillow, that's exactly what I do!
deleted-user·
I don't know, but I enjoy it. I just picture the person doing whatever the sentence was in a defiant way. Spices things up. :-D
deleted-user·
I'm not gonna lie, I can't spell it. The only reason I can get other right online is because my phone has auto correct.
I will do whatever I have to on order to avoid spelling it on paper.
deleted-user·
I have never been able to spell "definitely" it's just one of those words i can't wrap my brain around. It drives me utterly insane too! Thankfully my autocorrect fixes it for me
deleted-user·
I can't stand grammatical errors but what's worse is when people think they're being grammatically correct and question correct usage of words. Eg. Someone tried to tell this girl "favour" is spelled wrong when that's the British/Canadian spelling, or that thread that said it's "advice not advise" when both words are correct depending on the context. Someone even said it's wrong to say "please advise", ummm no it's actually correct.
deleted-user·
I see a lot of mistakes made (me making a few thanks to autocorrect), but I try to let it slip by.
I'm usually all about grammar, but I realize that not everybody cares or knows how to properly use certain words in what order.
Who am I to judge? I am definitely *wink* not your teacher :D
deleted-user·
I even tried to purposefully misspell the word and it still autocorrects it as the right word. Lol.
deleted-user·
My iPhone has never tried to autocorrect definitely to defiantly lol.
Defiant is an actual word as in being disruptive.
I guess I'm not getting what people are saying.

В ожидании первенца
You're right ophelia, pregnate is another annoying one!
I never tought of autocorrect, I turned it off 3 days after I got my phone! How can someone write properly with that function on?? I think the problem is autocorrect for some and bad spelling for others! :)
deleted-user·
My autocorrect (iPhone) always wants to type "defiantly" when I'm carelessly typing "definitely". It did it just now lol. But I always go back to fix it :).
deleted-user·
My autocorrect has never changed definitely to defiantly either. If you properly spell it in the first place it shouldn't autocorrect it. But that's my phone.
deleted-user·
I have never attempted to type the word 'definitely' and had 'defiantly' appear instead. I know many people mistakenly put an a where the e goes, so maybe that's why their autocorrect changes it.
deleted-user·
I guess it's an iPhone problem. I typed in 'def' and defiantly is like the 35th option!
deleted-user·
That one is likely due to autocorrect. If I don't pay attention, my phone tries to switch definitely to defiantly from time to time. It happens when I'm careless with my typing.
The spelling/grammar error that irritates the hell out of me is when people say "mines" instead of "mine".
deleted-user·
its damn auto correct! ive done it :/
deleted-user·
alot of the time its stupid auto correct that does that
deleted-user·
@ryders, dyslexia is a perfectly valid reason for not spelling.
I'm frustrated by people too lazy to learn.
deleted-user·
O, I've got one that really gets to me because I don't think I've seen it written correctly once on here.
The ever popular figure of speech 'to each his own'... Holy cr*p. People one here jack that one up like no other.
deleted-user·
My autocorrect gets this every time. I use "def" now to try and avoid this problem.
deleted-user·
Y'all would hate the way my boyfriend spells haha it's terrible! He dropped out of school because he's dyslexic and wasn't getting the help he needed, so school was very frustrating for him (not that that's a good excuse though). Luckily he's an electrician and doesn't quite need to know how to spell (I help him when he does bids and stuff). I sometimes have to figure out his texts haha. I've gotten used to it now, but give him such a hard time for it sometimes haha I can't help it!

Attempting to type with swype: Devonport
Chevrolet
Credibility
Definitely
You have to leave the e out if you are using swype.
deleted-user·
What gets me is "should of." It's either should've or should HAVE. How do you "of" something? It's a verb! Basic, middle school English, people.
deleted-user·
There's some words people just can't spell... I always say I'm going to a restraint instead of a restraunt (see I can't freaking spell it!!! Ugh!!! It auto corrects lol)
deleted-user·
I use swipe and any time I try to put definitely it puts DEFIANTLY sometimes I miss it. Ooops! oh well not that serious. Moving on lol
deleted-user·
Why would this be assumed as autocorrect?
Defiantly and definitely are both words. It's not misspelling.
deleted-user·
Definitely
deleted-user·
Past instead of passed
deleted-user·
I just saw 'tourcher' yesterday (meaning torture)... made me laugh.
I think its more the figures of speech or sayings that people screw up that bother me the most. For example, 'he dilly daddles' when it's supposed to be 'dilly dallies'.
I swear when I'm bored 1 day, I'll act as the grammar/figure of speech police & cite every person I come across lol.
deleted-user·
Pist = pissed.
deleted-user·
Well idk why other people do it but I have made that mistake bc I'm not the best speller.
deleted-user·
My iph always changes it to defiantly :(
deleted-user·
I use Swype, and I swear my phone HATES the word definitely. it always tries to make it something else
but I feel like you never know on bb, considering ppl say "discutsed"
deleted-user·
Yep my auto correct does it all the time! Especially that specific word.
deleted-user·
Autocorrect! ?
deleted-user·
Maybe because many people spell it wrong to begin with lol
deleted-user·
Maybe it's an auto correct thing. If I spell "and" and I accidentally type "ans" my phone will auto correct to "anal" LOL
deleted-user·
Maybe they just don't know? Who are we to judge?
