Calling all twin Mama's, help with night time sleeping
So now my twins are 2 months old. They can almost sleep through the night. Only thing is Hayden my boy twin is the one that always gets up, it's never my girl twin Eva. I bet she could sleep through the night. I give him a few minutes to see if he will go back to sleep by rocking him in his rock n play, and give pacifier but he just keeps waking. So Im guessing it's to eat so I get him up and so I have been getting up my daughter to. Should I be getting her up to or let her sleep? I have been reading about it and I've read to let her sleep or wake her. If I don't wake her she could wake later after him? Anyone dealing with this? What do u do?

What you described could had be wrote by me! That was exactly my situation 2 years ago, but every time I did wake my daughter for feed her she just refused the bottle so after 3 nights I didn’t bother her anymore. Her twin brother in other hand still have one little sip cup at night (we need to watch his blood sugar, that’s why he still have milk in the middle of night). My daughter started sleep trough the night at 2 months old like yours!

I'm just worried if I don't wake her to feed she will wake at some point it while I'm feeding him. I'm sure this happens with more mom's, not just us, I hope lol

I would let her sleep but I know what u mean. It’s hard when you’re in the middle of feeding and the other one wakes up and starts to fuss and you don’t want to stop feeding the other baby. I nurse them laying down so it’s easy for them to go right back to sleep while I get some sleep or rest. But if the other one wakes up when we already started it gets a little tricky lol

Yeah that's the thing. And then I have to burp them to. So it's tough lol. Do u burp them after breast feeding when you are feeding them in bed with you? I can't remember ever doing that with my son when I was breast feeding him while laying in bed together. Just remember falling asleep together

I'm going through the same thing with my two month olds. It varies which one might be asleep longer, but for us it seems that everytime I try and just feed one at a time, the other one wakes up shortly after I put the first one down so then I'm up even longer than I need to be. I still do it sometimes, even though it's brutal, BUT I am hoping that by letting the sleepy one sleep they might start to get themselves into a better sleep pattern. We shall see. I have no advice and was wondering the same exact thing the other night!!!

Funny I should read this this morning. Twice overnight I woke my son from a dead sleep to eat because his sister was up. Found myself wondering if I should have just taken the gamble and let him sleep.

And they never spit up in bed? Like I said I don't remember with my son, but I have done it a few times with the twins and the usually spit up a bit lol

That is my life! My girl sleeps so much better at night and I don’t ever wake her when the boy gets up to eat. If she happens to wake up while I’m nursing him I have my husband get her for me too. They are both in rock n plays on the side of our bed for now until they’re sleeping better or outgrow them. Mine are just a couple weeks older and she sleeps 7:30-4ish then nurses and goes back to sleep until 7/8. He goes down at 7:30-2ish, then up again after she eats and he just hates sleeping so he doesn’t go down much after that ?

No they don’t at night. but Nova will if she over eats. she’ll spit up but only during the day at night as soon as my let down is done she’ll suck a few more times then she’ll unlatch herself. More power to the twin mommies that bottle feed especially at night. having to feed 2 babies at the same time or just individually and still having to burp them after. I wouldn’t be able to sleep as much as I do at night if I did. You guys rock!!! Yes breastfeeding in the beginning was extremely hard and I wanted to give up a few times but thank goodness it has gotten so much easier and they rarely eat at the same time. Thank GOODNESS!! Lol

Jojo, I was just saying to my husband that overnight would be the one time breast feeding would be nice. When I was breast feeding, though, my supply sucked so we ended up breast feeding then my husband would give formula in the bottle while I pumped to try to get more supply. Dropping the BF was such a huge deal at the time.

Yeah I still pump. I can get up to a couple ounces a breast still. I think people who breast feed twins are awesome. I could not do it, especially at the same time. I don't know how u guys do it. I still breast feed if they want more after their bottle. But mostly pump now. Bottle feeding is not that bad at night. I just place them both on the twin Z pillow like I do for all feedings, but yes the burping part sucks and not being able to just bring them into bed to feed and lay down and go to sleep lol. I also have zero help at night because my husband works during the day so he needs his sleep. Wish I had help at that time lol. But it's easier now since they only get up once, then early in the morning between 6 and 7

I thought I was the only person that pulled night shift alone! Whenever it comes up people think we're crazy, but the man needs to sleep. It's not like he isn't readily available if I need help, either. It also means he takes over and gives me nights off on the weekend (another benefit of bottles). Sometimes it's a little rough and it would be nice to essentially cut the feeding time in half, but it isn't the end of the world, either.

I always used to wake the other twin after one got up to feed. Inevitably if I gambled and didn't wake the other, she wake up 45 minutes later anyway, making my sleep even more fractured. But I have identical girls, and I've read identical twins are more in sync with sleep schedules than fraternal.
