20 month old with stomach virus
Best place for advice, so I'm asking here. My son has the stomach virus for the first time ever, he is 20 months old. Do you guys have any advice on how to make him comfortable and what's the best foods to give him and should I still give milk? I read on line to give milk only a little at a time and if it keeps upsetting g his belly to switch to lactose free milk till he us better. I had the stomach virus first starting Friday night. Thought it was food poisoning. Now my husband and his mother have it to. My son then started having a little bit of diarrhea the last couple days, and today at breakfast he threw his food up twice. He is acting fine and drinking his water. Still has diarrhea. I'm thinking of making him a home made electrolyte drink. And should I give tylenol even tho he does not have a fever?

I would stay away from Tylenol if he doesn't have a fever. Focus on fluids, don't worry so much about food. I would avoid milk until he stops vomiting.

Oh yes the BRAT diet. Forgot to mention that. That's what I did when I was sick. So any kind of popsicles? I have Whole Fruit frozen juice pops or do you mean to freeze the pedialyte or gatorade?

I think the brat diet is a great idea as long as he can hold down water or pedialyte. I would hold off on food till he holds down fluids. I'd hold off in milk too. I think those popsicles should be ok. I think pedialyte makes a pop too. Hope everyone feels better. The stomach bug is no fun. Especially for kids.

Thanks. The nurse said no dairy for 48 hours. Said if he is drinking enough water he doesn't really need pedialyte. But I will make him some if he needs it. He held down lunch which was toast and banana and my husband slipped in a cookie. So far so good. But my god that poop he took this morning was the worst smelling thing ever omg

Just came here to say that I would avoid milk for a few days, but you've already been given that advice.
I hope he feels better soon. Poor kid - it's the worst. My kids had it a few weeks ago and it was horrible ?
