I believe they do. That's why people like a bamboo/mf blend. I use flour sack towels now. And at night I do a charcoal bamboo and a microfiber or a 2 bamboo mf blended inserts.

I don't use pockets during the day but at night a hemp prefold and fst

I use FST's for daytime and a newborn size prefold pad folded + microfiber insert for nighttime.

Ok so if you are doing layers do u always put microfiber on top of any other meatrial you use because it soaks up faster? And I mean in pocket not outside against babies skin because I know u can't do that

I put the microfiber on top so that's the first line of defense lol then the bamboo to absorb what the mf couldn't.

I like fst or charcoal bamboo for day time.

Bamboo soaks more but takes longer. We use a microfiber on top with bamboo under. Or I use a diaper with a athletic wicking Jersey lining and then the bamboo. Microfiber wicks up liquid fast so it's good for that but does need regular striping or sunning to keep from getting smelly.
