Still haven't told DH... ...that we're expecting! ? Tonight we were at dinner with my brother and SIL and they just had a baby 4 weeks ago. She said something about babies and DH replies, with such an attitude, "uh no! Never again, we are done!"
Would you be mad? My brother and his ex don't have a great relationship. They have joint custody of their 6 year old DD and my brother gets her every other weekend and 5 weeks in the summer. Both he and his ex are married now (they were never married to each other).

Science! My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?
yes I'm a single mom and yes my daughter is going to have my last name I refuse to give my daughter the name of a BOY who doesnt want to take care of his responsibilities! ....problem ?

Pls don't let him sign the papers. It sounds like he's actively trying to be in her life but the mom isn't allowing it. It'd be different if he wasn't trying. You def need to hire a lawyer and show them everything you've been doing to locate her to no avail. To the little girl it'll make a huge difference in how she thinks of her dad knowing that he didn't just abandon her. Good luck!

Not going through the exact same thing but my fiancees daughters mother is unfit. And weve been fighting for 3 years to get her. But when we need papers served on her we cant find her but they can always find him. We have a court date this month and we have picture evidence of different issues. And hopefully he will be granted visitation. I wish you guys luck. Step fathers shouldnt have the right to get right because parents arent together id never ask my fiancee to ask her mom to sign over rights for me. People go to far and she is crazy for even thinking it

She is ridiculous...
DH isn't making any decision right now, but I don't think he will sign the papers..
My moms idea was to have dd spend the summer with us, and then if she wants stepfather to adopt her, to sign it... That way at least DH can hear it straight from his dd...
Idk it's a crazy complicated situation...

his ex sounds truly ridiculous.

He should deny his rights being terminated. Keep on fighting for her.

His little girl is worth going to California and going through everything to get his rights enforced! Some kids dont have a father who wants to be apart of their life, it's hurting her in the long run. He needs to fight for her

Definitely get a lawyer. Custody, especially with an ex like your DH's is not something I would recommend doing without one! We are in a very different position but also dealing with a crazy ex and custody. We tried without a lawyer and got no where. Find a good one and at least have a consultation. Write down everything you want to know/ask etc before you meet with one, so you are prepared.

Definitely file for contempt of court! She's in a lot of trouble if you guys pursue your rights and charges brought against her!

Would it be best for us to get a lawyer?? Or just deny to terminate rights??
We are looking at getting a consultation with a lawyer to at least get advice..

That's against the law if they had a parenting plan in place. She could go to jail for that.

Yeah. But I would still tell him not to. Sounds like his ex is a bitter b*tch and just wants to take away something precious from him

We have talked to a few lawyers, and they all say that since the divorce and custody was done in California we would have to go to court there to get it dealt with... And then it's a matter if finding her, which ( until now) we have not been able to figure out where they lived.. We had only found her online, on Facebook and other sites..
We were actually going to be filing the paper work in August when we go to California.. Up until now we didn't have the money to get to Cali to deal with it..

tell him DONT DO IT!!! That's awful of his ex!!!! And it sounds like her fault that he hasn't been around. Why has he not gone to a lawyer to get it fixed if they've got joint custody?
