Hair Dye

For those whose gotten pregnant before, is it safe to dye the hair? I’ve searched a lot in the web and most says it is coz the molecules something is small to enter the body. But I want to know the opinions of others, TIA!

You can colour your hair just don't bleach it while your pregnant because of the ammonia. Also colour it during the second trimester your colour will not fade and or change to much do to hormones evening out about then.

I was wondering the same thing. I'd wait till the second trimester to be extra safe.

Thank you all for the replies. I wasn’t able to talk with my dr, but with the nurse. She said it’s safe as it’s well ventilated. I’ve had recurrent mcs already & I’m planning on keeping this baby so I will wait for the second trimester ?

There is conflicting information on dying hair in the first trimester. Due to the increased risk of MC and complications from everything during 1st trimester, I always air on the side of caution for anything that is conflicting during pregnancy. So, for me, first trimester hair dying isn't an option. They can't do studies on women to confirm if it causes issues and it's unlikely that they can even prove that it does even with studies, so i'd just avoid it.

I always got my hair dyed with my first throughout my whole pregnancy. I went to cosmetology school and they said it was fine in ventilated areas. But if you're worried ask the doctor :) good luck

My mother in law is a beautician, she won't do a pregnant womans hair until she's in the second trimester. The hormones do mess with everything so ur hair could possibly not take the color the way you hoped.

I've heard to avoid it in the first trimester. And that the second and third trimester are fine. If you're concerned, definitely talk to your doctor. Good luck!

Just as long as your in a well ventilated area. And the colors might not be what you expect. Hormones can cause the colors to act funny or not take at all.
