HELP! Induction has been scheduled.

Okay Mama's, I'm really hoping for some responses here! I had my appointment this morning and it appears I have developed Preeclampsia. My doctor said my numbers aren't so high I needed to be induced today but I am scheduled for induction beginning at 5pm on 1/16. I'll be 38w2d. That's the longest she will let me go. I am a ball of nerves right now! This is my first baby (& realistically, probably my only baby) and I did NOT want to be induced at all but am willing to do whatever is safest for my baby. I've heard horror stories about pitocin and thankfully my doctor isn't a huge fan of it so when I arrive Tuesday evening, they will start me on cervidil (sp?) and then by morning doctor is hoping that the cervidil will have me dilated to a 2-3 and then they will break my water and HOPEFULLY my body will know what to do and doctor said she hopes to have baby delivered by dinner time Wednesday. Please send me any words of encouragement or advice!! Thanks ladies!!

You’re welcome. I know how scary the thought of this all can be. I’m actually due the end of Feb but randomly come across posts and if I can help with any experience I have I’ll reply.

I’m due my third baby and I still post many questions in my birth group also, still just as nervous as I was with the first and still got questions about what to expect. Every pregnancy is different and that’s so true. Goodluck xx

I am happy you posted this because I'm going through the same! I'm extremely nervous along with being a first time mother. My due date was January 29th but now I'm being induced 1/16 at 5 am due too preeclampsia as well. I'm so worried about the pain but am so excited to meet my little guy. Good luck too you!

Thank you so much for responding ladies! I rarely get responses in my posts so I really appreciate it. They're going to try cervadil Tuesday night with hopes that it dilates me to at least 2-3 in the morning and then they will break my water.

First of all don’t be nervous hun. It’ll be ok ?

In response to your questions I was also induced for my second baby due to pre eclampsia. They gave me a sweep which made me get to 3cm then another one which took me to 4cm. That’s active labour so from then onwards you hope your body will do the rest but nothing happened for me. Then I had my waters broken (didn’t hurt me both times) just uncomfortable. Went from 4cm to 10cm in 10 mins 30mins of pushing.

That’s my story but depends on how your body takes it. Maybe you’ll need cervadil? To ripen your cervix and have waters broken? It all depends on how your body deals with it all. Goodluck xx

Don’t be scared! I was induced 2 weeks ago and things couldn’t have gone better. I was already dilated to a 4 when I went in and they started me on the lowest dose of pitocin. I had heard horror stories about it also and was really nervous. They increased my pitocin about every 30 minutes unless I was making good progress where it was. I had an epidural right before my doctor broke my water so I never felt that. 6 hours after starting pitocin it was time to push and my baby girl was out 30 minutes later. I really couldn’t have asked for a better delivery, even though it is not what I had wanted/planned. Hopefully they’ll give you cervidil and it will do its job and maybe you won’t need pitocin or you’ll only need a little. You’ll do great, mama!

Thanks so much for your response! That makes me feel better. I am definitely having an epidural. I know myself and my pain tolerence is very low. I hope things progress as quickly as yours did! Congratulations on twins!

I was further along with my first daughter (40+2) but was only 1cm dilated when I was induced. They first applied the cervadil around 10:30pm and it is generally dosed every 2 hours from what I understood. Since I was progressing with dilation I wasn’t ever given a second dose. I had two rounds of iv pain meds because I was trying to go without an epidural (wish I had done epi sooner, the pain meds made me loopy and there are chunks of time I just don’t remember) My water broke on its own around 3-4am, not painful though. It felt like a pressure build up and then a pop and it all flowed out! After that pain got much worse and I asked for the epidural. I got it placed around 6am and then they had me laying on one side with a peanut ball between my legs which took me from 6cm to 9cm in under 30 mins! She was born after just a few pushes at 7:03am.

I so wish I could do it again this time but my twins are both breech so I’m having to have a csection.

Also, does it hurt when they have to break your water for you? I just have NO idea what to expect!

I had a stillborn daughter at 38 weeks this passed Nov. This is my second month ttc. (Last month we only tried for like two weeks though). My last and only pregnancy, I got pregnant the first month of ttc so I hope it's quick this time again.
