Sleeping position when pregnant
I try to fall asleep on my left side but always wake up on my back or on my right side, is it really that bad not to be on my left?, I have horrible SPD and it's so uncomfortable on my left side so I must be turning in my sleep x

I've just had a nap and woke up on my stomach I looked like a tipped over turtle had to get hubby to help me was so funny ? I've never slept on my stomach ? I've just order a new pillow hopefully that keeps me in place and comfy x
Actually laying on your back and right side is not advisable, they advise left side only as laying on your right and back can stop blood flow to the placenta . If you lay on the right your uterus crushes your vena carva and other organs which provides blood to the placenta. It's all over the nhs Web site as laying on your back and right can cause still birth in some cases so I really would not risk it Fiona x not even advisable with spd.
Thank you ladies going to try not stress over it so much I couldn't sleep in my stomach if I tried I'm huge haha x
I'm the same, it's so hard to stay in one position. I definitely would though if I could cause it's such a hassle moving around ? I always get heart burn on my right side, it's uncomfortable on my back and my hips go dead on my left side. So I just kind of balance it all out by wriggling around all the time!!
I have a 6ft pillow and a wedge and the wedge ends up under my hubbys arse ? which he doesn't appreciate at all haha my pillow always seems to be where I need it so I throw it all over, I also sleep with one in between my knees I'm surprised there is room for him in the bed x
Aww fab thank you I was really starting to worry ? I'm currently laid on my right side and I'm somewhat comfortable for now x
I was told that it was fine to sleep in whatever position you find comfortable, even on your tummy ? by the physio
She said that it only affects a small percentage of women which is why they suggest sleeping on your left but if there was an issue with blood flow you would know as your breathing would struggle X
Haha I have to nap in the day my oldest only sleeps 30-45 mins at a time at night and has to be supervised most of it, if I didn't I would die of sleep deprivation lol xx
