Petty Rant
Went for my anatomy scan today and it just felt really rushed. The whole exam took less than 15 minutes. He did check the heart, brain, stomach and legs but couldn't tell the gender because baby is in a breech position.
My anatomy scan took about 10 minutes both times. One was at a high risk and one was at my regular ob/gyn. I agree, wait til your 3rd trimester and get a 3D scan. The place I went to recommended anywhere from 30-35 weeks as that's when the babies look most developed. They gave me a DVDs of the ultrasound and I had the option to put his heartbeat in a bear. It's something to look forward to and the atmosphere is a lot nicer than a doctors office.
@sisterwife yes I realise it was not for my pleasure and I acknowledge that giving out about not finding out about the gender is petty ( see original post). My main concern is that the scan was rushed. I always thought the anatomy scan took an average of 30-40 minutes with plenty of measurements taken. It felt really rushed to me and I'm afraid he might have missed something. He didn't mention anything about the cord, he didn't check my cervix as far as I know ( previous second trimester loss) or the kidneys.
I now have a 3d scan booked for the 10th of November so hopefully that will give me piece of mind. Thank you everyone for the replies, it's good to get feedback on how anatomy scans are performed elsewhere
My anatomy scan was a little over an hour. It wasn't for the gender though. It was to check all the organs, especially the heart because my first son had a defect. With my first son my anatomy scan was also an hour though. Even my dating scans were at least half an hour. Some places do things differently though. I don't know about being breech because both my boys were very eager to show what they were. You could definitely go to a private place though.
I so get what you mean about connecting with the baby. We had two previous losses and it took a while for me to not worry and be able to bond with the baby, knowing the gender is really when the switch hit and I was so in love. As soon as she announced I just couldn't stop smiling. I hope you're able to get a 3D so you can have your moment too!
I went thru the same thing I ended up going to a place and paying for a scan and they even put the baby heartbeat in a bear. My daughter is wicked stubborn they tried the scan three times before I went to the private clinic and had it done and I ended getting so many pictures worth every penny to me
He said it was the way the legs were positioned. They were right down my pelvis
Awe cool think I'll book one so. For peace of mind too, I really don't think he was thorough enough today. Thanks girls x
Ya someone in my pregnancy after miscarriage group suggested that too...I should have the money in like 2 or 3 weeks. Is 24-25 weeks too far for a 3d scan?

My husband and I aren’t exactly strangers when it comes to relationship challenges 💞. We have been together for 14 years and married for eight, so we’ve definitely gone through some growing pains as we navigated a long-distance relationship in college and our first year living together as a married 👫 couple.
But nothing has challenged our relationship quite like our first year as 👪 parents .

Birth is a magical moment that you don’t really understand until you’ve gone through it yourself. We asked moms in the Preggie community if they had any childbirth and postpartum advice for new moms. Here are 24 real “surprises” they wanted to share.
1️⃣→ Hemorrhoids
💬 I’ve got one word for this, hemorrhoids. Either way you deliver, you don’t get out of it lol.

33 weeks 4 days today !! Had my appointment today for biophysical profile, and growth scan. At 28 weeks, she was in the 31 percentile, weighing 2 pounds and 1 ounce. Now she is in the 17th percentile, weighing 3 pounds and 1 ounce. I don't understand what I'm doing so wrong. 😢 my doctor will make me deliver if it drops to 10 or less, as she would be better out than in. Im 33 weeks 4 days, but my uterus is only measuring 31 weeks. Her heart rate was 132 today, her reflexes were great, she's a m...

If you do opt for a 3/4D scan, the one thing I'll recommend is to eat/drink something sugary about half an hour before your scan.. when I went for mine (at 28 weeks), that's what the company advised as it wakes up your little one :)
If you're in the UK/Scotland, ABC4D scans currently have a 50% deal on scans!
