Breastfeeding journey
Sadly, my breastfeeding journey has come to an end. :-( My lb had cut (himself) down to one feed per day and only on one side. This morning however he refused. Turned his head away and said no. I'm grieving. It's only been a day but I'm so sad. I really enjoyed my bf journey. I would recommend it to anyone and can't wait to do it all over again one day.
I think it's lovely your son self weaned ? I know it's tough probably feeling "rejected" but better than struggling to wean him off.
I've loved bfing my babies, currently bf my 4 month old, so I know how sad it is when that special feeding time ends. They still need u in other ways tho!!
I'll feel extra sad this time as I think this might be my last baby ?
Toggy, I'm going back to work in May. I'm a nurse and will be going back full time and think I will struggle with the shifts as they are 14 hr days. He'll be 6 months by then so he'll begin to wean to solids by then anyway. But still think I will miss it after it taking so long to get into. Makes me sad even now thinking about it.
Thank you everyone. He didn't even ask this morning and a few mornings ago he did say 'stuck' about my milk. So I do think I may have dried up a little anyway having feeding so little and being dehydrated in the mornings. I made it to 19.5 months. When he was a tiny baby milk and mummy was his everything. And now he is weaned and is independent. Yesterday he went for the day with his nanny and grandad for the OH and I to spend time together (first sat without him) and he didn't even miss us :-( my little boy is growing up so fast.
We've just been through this too, I am pregnant and my dd just sort of went off it, I felt quite sad and rejected at first but it's probably for the best as I'll have another one to feed soon! Well done for letting your lo take the lead and well done for being a super breastfeeding mummy xx
I agree with pp that it's lovely he self weaned. I'm planning on cutting down to 1 bf on Wednesday (her birthday) and stopping altogether a week later. It is sad so I understand and I'm ready (I think) but unsure how she's going to take it. Much rather have your situation but wouldn't like the refusal though. It's great you've had a lovely journey.xx
Sarah, if it would help at all, you can still continue to bf whenever you are at home. Your breasts will either adjust or the supply will go but either way you are not loosing out, especially if you are feeling sad about having to stop xxx
