I'm shocking with portion sizes. I've recently lost 5.5kilos (I gained this randomly after moving and eating way too much s*** and big portions)
One thing I did was cook a recipe and if it was for say 6 people I would serve myself and husband 1 serve each, 2 serves between 3 kids and get out a container and put away the other 2 serves for lunches or freeze for a later date!
Also I eat 2 eggs for breakfast every morning, sometimes I make them into omelette but sometimes just 2 gets and it's quiet filing.
I do a big fruit and veg shop and cut up some carrot and celery sticks put in a zip lock bag and they stay fresh for ages, I have them with hummus or peanut butter.
Also kitchen scales, I bought a good quality set that measure weight, water mls, milk mls. I weigh everything which helps me see what a portion should really be
Thanks ladies!
My problem is the food. I mean, it sounds simply, eat healthier and count calories - which I have been doing through my fitness pal, but I'm pretty sure I get the portion sizes wrong etc. I need to learn and have no idea where to start, not on my own anyway. ?
Iv never done there programs but they are good motivation. As long as you have the determination to do it you can achieve your goals. Its not about smashing yourself every day (you will eventually burn out) it's about being consistent. You don't have to spend a fortune.
Its 80% nutrition and 20% exercise. Exercise is so important for health, getting the heart rate up which gets the metabolism going and your obviously burning calories. Also the more muscle you have the more energy you burn throughout the day.
As long as your calorie intake is less than your recommended daily intake you will lose weight.
When im feeling lazy there is a quote that always pops into my head. "think of movement as an opportunity not an inconvenience" might sounds silly but it helped me ?
I would recommend just buying her workout DVDs I had 37kgs to loose of baby with first and started with walking 5 days a week and excercising with her DVDs 3-4 times a week! I was the fittest and toned I'd ever been. It was hard hard work but got so much easier to do her excercises as time went on. I got back to 63kg!!
I've tried both and love 12wbt.
Better recipes, exercises and community!
Although Determination is what get results, not a program. 12wbt offers more support. It's way more expensive but worth it in my opinion!
Good luck with whatever you decide!
Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
I'll just add that 12wbt is $20 a week for 12 weeks but that's more than what you'd save on junk food, soft drink etc ???
I previously did two round and lost 22 kilos. ( single at the time, with three kids and pre Harper hehe) I joined the Sept round and doing pretty good this time too
I don't have any special diets that I follow. I just eat very healthy and clean. Nothin packaged, processed, deep fried, sugar loaded ect... I only eat whole foods and I cook every single thing myself.
I also use scales to weigh my food before I cook it. (Don't weigh cooked food as it is heavier)
I drink a load of water, go on the occasional detox/ cleanse.
I don't eat carbs past 7pm, and if I do eat carbs for dinner I eat them out of a specific bowl which is measured to the correct amount that my body needs.
This has helped me to loose all of my baby weight.
And I am currently 4kg lighter than my pre baby weight. 3 more kg to go and I'll be even happier !
It's hard work but well worth it when it makes you feel alive and well!
