Ugh! Centrelink rant ? So, I applied for FTB on the 1st of may, still waiting to hear from that, but…

When they screwed my payments up i had to apply for parenting payment again online and it had a heap of documents they wanted that i knew they already had on file such as my kids birth certificates, medicare details, lease etc. When i spoke to the guy at the office he told me i dont need to provide them again, it automatically comes up that i need to provide them basically for people who havent provided them.

So i would say you dont have to provide them again but its just automatically told you they need to be provided.

As for ftb sometimes you can ring them and bug them to process your payment if you need he money. Depends on who you get on the phone but tell them you are having financial difficulty it worked for me with my ds2 payment. they process it there and then within 2 mins and is in your bank about 2 days later. I dunno why it takes them weeks to approve it all when it literally takes them minutes!!!

The site says my claim has been submitted, so maybe it has gone through? Maybe I'll call them to just confirm. Although I'm sure I'll be on hold for ages, it'll provably be easier to drive down there lol ?

If you are a full time student it would be best to stay on student payments. You can earn up to $400 a fn rather than 100 and you get student payments of like $1000 twice a yr! At least that's what it was when I was at uni. You can still get ftb :)

Centerlink I can't like why do they take forever Its been 2 months since I put a claim for a youth allowance I'm gonna give birth soon and there still lagging

So, apparently the birth declaration doesn't count as 'proof of birth' when claiming for parenting payment.. I have to give them his birth certificate. I'm sending off his registration today, but how long can it take for the birth certificate to be sent to me?

I thought the whole point of the birth declaration was to prove his birth! Any ideas ladies????

I never had to give them anything like that for my son in 2013. The paperwork was enough.

It takes up to 3 weeks I believe

16 to 21 years old and looking for full-time work or undertaking approved activities

18 to 24 years old and studying full-time

16 and 17 years old and have completed year 12 or equivalent, need to live away from home in order to study, or considered independent for Youth Allowance

16 to 24 years old and undertaking a full-time Australian Apprenticeship

A friend of mine has a 4 month old she only took in the declaration and was approved for for her payments and back paid to her baby's date of birth...

She had to supply the birth certificate when she received it. The birth declaration is a legal document that is proof of birth that should cover u untill you get the certificate.

If you have the app on your phone you can upload on your phone using your phones camera.

@ezmick, I thought so too, but I went in again today and he told me for parenting payment I need the birth certificate, or at least the receipt for the birth certificate. I sent off his registration with the birth certificate form today, so who knows how long I'll be waiting ?

Because I've started studying again, they've put me back on student payments until I can be cleared for parenting payments.

It's been 8 weeks since I applied for FTB too, hopefully that won't be much longer ?
