Yep I had it at 36 weeks. Midwife gave me the swab to do myself in the toilets lol. I was negative.
I was tested at 30 weeks and came back pos so i was on antibiotics while in labour then staelyed for 24hrs to monitor bub.... everything was fine.
I was meant to get tested at the 36 week appt but woke up to my waters breaking the morning of my 36 week appt. They put me on antibiotics when I got to hospital just in case I had it which I did end up having. I'm allergic to penicillin so the antibiotics is a 24hr one instead of 4hr
First was a planned csec so no need second it never even got mentioned so I had no idea about it and then this time I was going to get it done on the Wednesday but had bubs before then it would have been at my 36w check.
I asked to get it done and was declined (Gladstone qld) and was told they don't it anymore. My waters broke at 37+5 so I had antibiotics anyway but a girl in my mothers group little boy is severely damaged with CP from strep so I'll be asking for antibiotics this pregnancy anyway....
Yea I had one done lucky it was done because I was positive. I was advised to head straight to the hospital if my waters broke so that I could start a round of antibiotics.
You got to take it home? Lol. My OB made me do it in the hospital toilets and hand it into pathology in my way out, lol..
I don't think it's as routine here as America though.
Yep I did it,and it was positive but I ended having to have a c section anyway so it didn't matter in the end.
Why would someone not want to do it?
Could put the health of the baby at risk, surely?
I was tested at 36 weeks and was positive. Then after labour both bub and i got thrush from the amount of antibiotics we had :/
No because you can test positive at say 38 weeks and then it be negative by labour that's why its not routine anymore. It can be quite dangerous to bub i think they are trying to develop a faster test so it can be done routinely in labour tho

It's such a quick, easy test. I was surprised at how many ladies are saying they aren't tested for it. Especially with how dangerous it can be for baby.
I have been tested all 3 pregnancies for it and every mother I know with children of the same age have had it done.
I tested negative the first 2 kids and positive for my 3rd.
I always thought it was routine here?
I done it, I tested positive and just had to have antibiotics every 4 hours during labour, it saves the baby being treated after birth
50% of ladies have it so well worth testing for it only takes 2 seconds

Yep I did test at 36 weeks, pathology at the dr surgery had no bed for me for her to do it, so she sent me to main pathology in town, where they just gave me the swab and sent me to the bathroom to diy it. Ffs!
Ended up negative.
But because of the first pathology check, I'm scared if I got it wrong somehow, since she was on about how she couldn't do it because she couldn't lay me down and I couldn't do it because I can't see where I need to test.
Surely not though, I did as I was told.
