What to expect !
At first antenatal appointment at the hospital? I'm 21 weeks tomorrow.
All done. Worried for nothing. They had my referral and all my paperwork. I was only there for about 45 minutes. Pretty straight forward as I've had no medical history. Glad I didn't bring my partner though, he would've been bored out of his brains. ;)
Thanks everyone!
A lot of personal and odd questions. My personal favourite is "are you related to the father of the child?" ? lol.
I think they take bloods, maybe have a feel of tummy, check your weight, talk about what sort of birth you want, give you lots of pamphlets on breast feeding, new babies, PND and all that jazz lol.
My SO didn't go with me ever so I don't think he needs to go..
Is this an appointment my SO should attend?
He's got a job interview which overlaps the appointment. Not sure if there's any point to him coming to half of it lol.
I'm just a worry-wort. I pick the smallest things to fuss over lol. especially since I've never done anything like this before!
I'm sure it'll be fine, thanks again! :)
I had my first antenatal appointment at about 13 weeks I think, I'm 21 weeks as well.
It was mostly questions about family history, my health.. She went through my hospital file and asked about each time I was there (this is the same hospital I was born at, haha). I had my fiancé with me and she had him leave the room for a few minutes to ask about our relationship, any history of domestic abuse, violence, etc.
Mostly pretty simple stuff.
I imagine you'll be fine if your referral was faxed through. But maybe give them a call to double check if you're worried :)
Your first is a lot of questions about family history and health issues. I also took a depression test type thing to see if I'm at risk of post natal depression. Plus she will prop need test results and scan results but if you haven't had your scan she will send you for one. And you should be fine the antenatal clinic I go to asked for a refurral and when I was there they didn't ask to see it I'm guessing my gp also faxed it over.
Glad all went well!
