Definitely not over the phone.. this is a matter that should be done in person. I think you should tell him separately because you aren't that close to his fiance. He may be upset at first, but he may just be happy for you. He's your daddy. He can't stay upset for long.
I don't think he'll be too upset by the news. I barely see him enough for him to have a huge opinion anyway.
If I go to his place, I'll be traveling almost two hours to get there, and his fiancé likes spending time with me as well, so getting them apart will be difficult. I don't know what to do..
Go there and at his house ask him for 10 minutes to go alone. Had the same situation with my first kid... And called my dad to come to my house and i specifically said please come alone... He got very anxious about it... To the point he arrived early and super tense. I think i told him right at he door to lower his anxiety.
Sometimes it is hard having him for you when he has a new life but believe me... he is your dad and he doesnt want to miss on you life
I honestly I would talk to just my dad. I mean if your close to his wife then talk to both. But like you said you rarely talk to your dad so I would just focus on telling him. Depending on how far he lives, I would just call him.
So I rang my dad, to find out if he was free on the weekend. Turns out he's work has moved locations and is now 6 hours from where I'm living and he doesn't come home in a while, (see, this is how often we talk...)
so I had no choice but to tell him over the phone.
He handled the news well. He thinks he's too young to be a grandpa, haha, but other than that he's happy.

I just saw that part of having to drive 2 hours to have a "face to face". You can tell him over the phone and save that drive and gas. Lol.
