I got diagnosed with thyroid cancer at 17(a year ago). I got in a car crash and they found a nodule when they did a neck CT. I had an ultrasound and a biopsy. Followed by surgery. They removed my thyroid, parathyroid, and 28 lymph nodes. Since it had spread to the lymph nodes they consider radio active iodine treatment for me, but with my age and general health considered they decided against it. I go in for blood work every 2 months, and ultra sounds every 6 months. I have to take levothyroxine daily, and they still haven't been able to regulate it. My doctor did say that thyroid cancer is one of the easiest to treat and get rid of. After surgery I did have problems with my calcium levels, and was put on a 10 pound weight restriction. Over all recovery from surgery wasn't bad at all.

I have hyperthyroidism and the left side of my thyroid is enlarged. Had an ultrasound last year, then a biopsy because of the mass found. Turns out it's a cyst. Neither procedure is painful nor long or complicated.

Also have hypothyroidism i had an ultrasound more than likely theyre checking for a goitre. This is just an enlargement of the thyroid x

If you have hypothyroidism then that's most probably the cause of ur enlarged thyroid.

No thank god they didn't find anything abnormal! Try not to worry yourself sick!

I had a a large thyroid, like you could visibly see it. I had the ultrasound and it was just like with a baby ultrasound rub the wand around your neck. They look for anything abnormal cysts? Bumps? Good luck

They look for nodules and irregularities in the tissue consistency and might want to biopsy if they find anything. And just read pp's post but basically what she says. I've been living with Hashimotos most of my life.

I have a thyroid ultrasound every 6 months due to nodules on my thyroid (I'm hypothyroid and have hashimotos) it's not biggie it's quick and just like any other ultrasound. I've had to have mine biopsied a few times...that's not as fun lol but it was only because I had a few nodules double in size in the 6month time frame. Luckily so far so good and everything's been ok. I actually go for my next appointment in 3 weeks- they won't biopsy me while pregnant anyway but I'm hoping nothing's grown! My best friend had that. Same as PPs it turned out to be thyroid cancer. They had to remove her thyroid and parathyroid and she is on meds for the rest of her life ? I hope it's nothing serious OP and just extra precautions

I was 17 when they found a cancerous tumor on my thyroid. I had a total thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine treatments. I take multiple medications for the rest of my life, as well as have total body scans every few years.

For me it was lump detection, ultrasound, needle biopsy, surgery.

I had my ultrasound done to check my thyroid like 2 years ago and the tech said its usually normal unless you can visually see a lump or feel it but I don't know how true that is. It felt really weird having the ultrasound on my throat and they had the room sooo dim. My scan came back negative and I just get checked and test my thyroid every 6 months. I had surgery. Then I was put on hormone therapy. It was so long ago, like 16 years for me. There is so much more options now. And it sounds like if you do have something, it is caught early.

I have had three. I had a ct scan for something unrelated with my larynx. They found nothing with my larynx but they found a jugular blood clot and thyroid nodules ??

So I had a ultrasound follow up. And then I have them to track the nodules. So far nothing has been big enough to biopsy. They spend time measuring both sides of the thyroid. Then measure all the nodules. Basically just take a bunch of views. And it's painless.

I had one. They found thyroid cancer when I was 23. They caught it early. If she kept feeling something in your throat area, she is just taking the next step and getting it scanned. I hope all is well. It can be nothing too. She is being cautious which is good

She said she ordered a few different tests too an yes she said it felt lumpy and very extended

Did they also draw lab? Do you have any bump there?
