Budgeting I need help. I just took over doing the bills and budgeting. Is there any apps you guys…

I use mint but it just tracks your spending so I see what we've been spending on in months prior and try and work off that and make changes. I also write every bill out with due dates so my husband has a visual on what's being spent so he doesn't think he can go crazy (he's terrible with money)

You can find free printables budgeting on Pinterest. That's what I use. But they only work if your committed to it. And it is hard.

I have used mint app for yrs. I pay all the bills except for mortgage (Dh pays that directly) but this app has helped me managed all the household bills. Tells me when they're due, what the minimum is, balance, history, its all there.

I set up an email strictly for bills. Each time they come in, I write the bill type (water/sewer, electric, cable, etc), how much it is and the due date on a small whiteboard. Once a month or two passes, you'll have a much better idea how much each bill will be so you can plan ahead. I take all the bills and add them up and divide by the number of weeks in that month. That tells me how much money needs to be put aside each week.

That's what I used to do, anyways. Now, I've spaced the bills out enough where one or two is due per week, the biggest ones being due at the beginning of the month so it doesn't interfere with rent/mortgage at the end of the month. I mostly have apps for all bills and they send me text alerts when it's coming up to a payment date. Dave Ramsey has amazing budgeting tools, not sure about apps though. If you're struggling though or still feeling a little lost, I'd mostly definitely google him and read some of his articles, charts, etc. Good luck!

Expense manager I looooove it. I can put all our bills in and it helps me budget out everything and remember what to pay each month.

I'm old school too, I just made an Excell spreadsheet. I keep one as a template and make a new one for each year. The sheet has the entire year- month by month

The left side is actual monthly expenses and credits from pay with an ongoing bank balance. The right side is a list of all expenses and amounts that are ongoing and their total.

We do the envelope method. Dave Ramsey has the percentages each category should get of your monthly income. We modified it a bit to fit the biggest expense, our mortgage. Then we worked the rest of the percents out. We have housing, transportation, medical savings, savings, long term savings, extras (netflix, tv, gym, groceries), utilities (Internet, gas, water, electric).

We have all the envelopes on the wall in the kitchen. It's great

I pay rent and renters insurance on my first check of the month, everything else on my second. Every 3rd month, I get a bonus of $100-450 on the first check of the month. I fill out my daycare FSA reimbursement forms as soon as I pay the tuition, and fax it in so I get the deposit on the Tuesday following payday. My method is kind of scattered, but I know when everything is due in my head...

I do not use any apps. Ut I am the prime bill budgeting person in our home. I am great at it. My DH would be frazzled quickly if he did it.

I just use a calendar.

We get paid weekly i x4 then take out monthly bills and divide the rest on what i can spend on groc, fuel &going out. I also make sure we save each month. Even if its a little ....Every bit counts.
