@storm

I see it all the time! I'm sure you know how bulky they make coats for babies and toddlers too! You should hear the grief I get from my in laws about how, "oh the poor baby is cold!" ?

No, I'm pretty sure he's just fine. Little guy gets a blanket and wears fleece everything. I think not having a coat in the carseat isn't going to give him hypothermia. ? plus, autostart batches. ?

I've learned a lot on here. Car seat safety for sure. About ovulation and tracking my cycle. That I'm not alone in my ttc struggles. That lots of women/couples struggle with infertility

@Little After 6 months a baby can have some water as long as they are eating solids. My son was eating 1 1/2 meals a day at that time so he would have a little bit of water. It's all just for fun milk should still be the main source of nourishment.

1)No water for babies, until after they are 1 year. My doctor said it and bump had validated it.

2)That babies can smell their mothers.

3)That your cervix can be stitched up to prevent preterm labor and more thinning of the cervix early.

4)That we have mucous plugs lol

I feel stupid to not know some of what i mentioned above. But no one told me about these issues i ended up finding out later.

@kay I'm in Wisconsin. There was a mom next to me yesterday putting her 3 year old in her van while I was putting in my 3 year old. She kept his coat on, chest clip all the way to the bottom of the straps!

I stood there with my daughter loudly explaining that she needed to remove her coat because I wanted her to be safe in the car, and I had to adjust her clip to her armpit level so she would be as safe as possible. The mom next to me whipped her head up real quick and glared at me. Petty? Yes. But maybe she'll keep my words in hear head for the next time she had her kid in the car!

Car seat safety, BLW, and that your breastmilk doesn't come in right away

Oh and yes that you are not supposed to put your infant carrier on top of the shopping cart!

I'm glad I joined way before I had my now one year old. I learned so much about rf and car seat safety. I learned all about blw and I was already set on breastfeeding but I learned so much more on here. Very thankful I found r&r. As much as it can get crazy in here it can also be very helpful. ❤?

That dilation doesn't matter until you're in true labor.

There are some petty petty people out there in the world. And that some individuals shouldn't be aloud to reproduce ?

Even mothers are bullies.

@pecky

When you put a coat on a child and strap them into the carseat, you end up having to adjust the straps much looser to make room for the coat.

This creates space, that in the event of a car accident, could propel your child out of the seat, since the straps would not be tight enough to hold the child in place.

I live in Minnesota, which gets very cold in Winter, and we do a very thin fleece, coats are on to the car, but come off before we get in the car seat, I keep a blanket to put over my son, and coats go back on before we leave the car.

I learned you're not supposed to put your infant carrier on top of the grocery cart, but in it!

@pecky it interferes with the straps and chest clip. If you have a bulky coat on, you have to loosen the straps to fit over the coat and adjust the chest clip.

So now that the straps are loosened (even if they're tight against the coat, the puffy coat compresses in an accident and the child will fly forward. The risk of being ejected from the seat goes up, as well as being harmed by the straps/chest clip.

@hug why no heavy coat in the car seat? I haven't heard that one.

How important carseats safety is... Seems like common sense ... And no water for babies ... How different people parent ...

Car seat safety, water intoxication. I'll come back if I remember more.

Car seat safety, that attachment parenting is a thing, BLW, and so much information about breastfeeding that truly helped me.

That baby carriers should support legs and not just be on the croch... with my first I had the crappy black infantino that just held the croch until someone posted a pic or link showing it can cause hip dysplasia and should support the legs.

That people eat placentas. And there is a big controversy about breastfeeding vs formula fed. And that you have to take off your puffy jacket and your baby's jacket before buckling up or putting them in a car seat.

I learned a lot.

For me it has to be water intoxication on infants and car seat safety. I was clueless.
