What have you learned
On baby bump that you had no idea about before?
@storm
I see it all the time! I'm sure you know how bulky they make coats for babies and toddlers too! You should hear the grief I get from my in laws about how, "oh the poor baby is cold!" ?
No, I'm pretty sure he's just fine. Little guy gets a blanket and wears fleece everything. I think not having a coat in the carseat isn't going to give him hypothermia. ? plus, autostart batches. ?
1)No water for babies, until after they are 1 year. My doctor said it and bump had validated it.
2)That babies can smell their mothers.
3)That your cervix can be stitched up to prevent preterm labor and more thinning of the cervix early.
4)That we have mucous plugs lol
I feel stupid to not know some of what i mentioned above. But no one told me about these issues i ended up finding out later.
@kay I'm in Wisconsin. There was a mom next to me yesterday putting her 3 year old in her van while I was putting in my 3 year old. She kept his coat on, chest clip all the way to the bottom of the straps!
I stood there with my daughter loudly explaining that she needed to remove her coat because I wanted her to be safe in the car, and I had to adjust her clip to her armpit level so she would be as safe as possible. The mom next to me whipped her head up real quick and glared at me. Petty? Yes. But maybe she'll keep my words in hear head for the next time she had her kid in the car!
I'm glad I joined way before I had my now one year old. I learned so much about rf and car seat safety. I learned all about blw and I was already set on breastfeeding but I learned so much more on here. Very thankful I found r&r. As much as it can get crazy in here it can also be very helpful. ❤?
@pecky
When you put a coat on a child and strap them into the carseat, you end up having to adjust the straps much looser to make room for the coat.
This creates space, that in the event of a car accident, could propel your child out of the seat, since the straps would not be tight enough to hold the child in place.
I live in Minnesota, which gets very cold in Winter, and we do a very thin fleece, coats are on to the car, but come off before we get in the car seat, I keep a blanket to put over my son, and coats go back on before we leave the car.
@pecky it interferes with the straps and chest clip. If you have a bulky coat on, you have to loosen the straps to fit over the coat and adjust the chest clip.
So now that the straps are loosened (even if they're tight against the coat, the puffy coat compresses in an accident and the child will fly forward. The risk of being ejected from the seat goes up, as well as being harmed by the straps/chest clip.
For me it has to be water intoxication on infants and car seat safety. I was clueless.
What would you do with $25,000
If you received an extra $25,000. What would you do with it? ?
