Would you be upset?
Dd went camping with my mil and step fil. Well dd got back today and I was asking her how it went. She told me mil made her sleep in the car the first night with her step daughter who is 14. Dd said she was cold and scared that She was crying. She said mil and step fil slept in the tent. Wtf?? I asked mil if it was true and she said yes, that they got there late and she decided to just leave her in the car with it on. I'm very upset.

HA my mil is a crazy batch already but she would be taking lessons from me that day

Heads would roll.

They would NEVER be keeping my child overnight again, camping or not. Completely unacceptable!

I would be thankful you have her with you. At least you know not to leave her overnight with them anymore. I'm sorry that happened mama.?

@cati. I can't get over that. That's what I keep thinking! What if something would have happened ?!? I would have never forgiven myself. So many things could have happened!!!

They would NEVER have my child alone again, camping or not!!!!

This was probably those mommy feelings you were getting the other night. Now you know to always believe that instinct. Anything could have happened. A running car with two children asleep inside that's insane someone could have took them and the vehicle!

That would make me so mad. There are so many terrifying things that could have happened. I am glad she is safe. I wouldn't let them have her over night again.

She's 4. Yes she left it on all night. I told her I wasn't necessarily mad that she slept in the car but mad that she left her there alone with an irresponsible 14 yo. Alone. I told her had she slept with her in the car I wouldn't have been upset but she left her unattended. She said she never thought about that??. She said next time she would be more careful. I said there won't be a next time.

Yes I would be upset.
deleted-user·
So not only did she sleep in the car, your mil left it running all night?! ??
deleted-user·
How old is your daughter?
deleted-user·
This makes me really sad for your DD. I would be PISSED. what if someone had grabbed her out of the car? What if something happened?!
deleted-user·
I would be furious, what if someone hops into the car. They could take those kids so easily!
They should have stayed with your kid, especially if she was crying.
My child would no longer be allowed to go on trips with them.
deleted-user·
Yer I don't agree with leaving her in the car. She was upset and they did nothing to make her fell safe. Thats there job when looking after!!! So yer Id be pissed too
deleted-user·
That would be the first and last time they ever took her camping. And I would feel very strongly about her even staying the night with them since its apparent they don't know how to supervise/care for your dd.
If they can't put aside their petty fighting for the sake of your child then they need to grow up.
deleted-user·
I would be pissed. No more trips allowed with them!

I've slept in my car plenty of times, but to keep it running all night isn't safe. Crack the windows and just have extra blankets.. it's really the same as sleeping in the tent then. But id be upset you dd was scared and they didnt sooth her in any way. Especially if that's going to be her first experience camping and it terrorized her

I'd be super mad at the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning itself from leaving the car running all night. Wow. Also, what if one of them kicked the gear shift when they were sleeping and the car rolled away? So much wrong with this situation. I'm sorry, OP. At least she's home safe and sound.

...I can't with this.
They would NEVER take my child, ever again. I would be FUMING.
I would be pissed they left her in the car. What if someone came and just drove off with them? Hell to the muthafackin no.
deleted-user·
Not really that she left her in the car to sleep... More that your dd was upset and they didn't do anything about it. One of them could've slept in the car also.
(When hunting we sleep in the truck its just easier... That's why the car part wouldnt upset me...)
