Feeling pretty bummed ??
Feeling pretty bummed ??
I have two kids. Dd is 4 and ds is 18 months. Dd is sooo well behaved, ds is a pain. He is very stubborn and strong willed. We have visit over that hasn't come see us for so many years. They came to my moms place and I made the trip from our home and we are all staying at my moms. Well obviously they want to go out and have fun, either a Rockies game or like go see the casinos and such. Well I'm stuck at home with ds while everyone leaves. Ds doesn't like being held by anyone other than my mom and I or dh. But he's back home working. My mom wants to enjoy the visit. I feel embarrassed cause ds behaves bad sometimes and i feel at my wits end. I just feel sad that I can't fully enjoy the visit. But I guess that's part of being a mom. Sorry I just had to vent somewhere.

What does he do? He's 18 months. It's probably normal behavior.

I would imagine he is acting just like any other 1 1/2 year old.
What specifically is his "bad" behavior?

Dd was so relaxed she enjoyed going with everyone and playing with anyone.
Ds doesn't like anyone touching him has severe separation anxiety hates the word no. Is a screamer like the shrieking ear popping screams.

Sounds like my one year old. It'll pass eventually.

Completely normal.

He'll mellow out in the next few months and then when he hits 3 1/2 or 4 it gets worse. ?

He isn't a pain. You got lucky the first go around and got a laid back baby. Sorry your son is the polar opposite, but that's just him. I'm sure it's a phase he'll outgrow. I have 2 difficult kids out of my 4. It just is what it is

It's mentally exhausting. I love my kids but geez I didn't ever expect having kids was this hard.

I could have written this post myself. My first son was very laid back easygoing. He was just such an easy baby. My second was always a bit more difficult. He's very much so a mommas boy. Doesn't really like anyone holding him but myself or my husband. He's just always been this way. And 18mths is a tough age. It was for me the start of the "terrible 2's". Don't worry it will pass in time. U just have to accept that that's how he is. Just try to stay calm and enjoy your visit the best u can. The more u stress out the more he will stress or act out

Just think. He's a handful now. But come teenage years, he will be the saint. And you'll be at wits end with your daughter. Welcome to bring the mother of a strong willed boy. They keep us busy for the first 4 years, then they become our best friends.

Dude I totally feel you. My girls are my world but my first is easy, she's a little turd somedays but most of the time she's excellent then my youngest ? she is a handful, she's loud, constantly into something, she climbs and puts anything that will fit, in her mouth. Somedays I get frustrated and I wonder why she can't be the happy, calm baby that my first was but I realize she is just that way, she's a handful, I adore her and she's hilarious. I wouldn't change her for the world ❤️ it'll be ok, it's perfectly fine to be frustrated.

I feel the exact same way so I can definitely relate. I have a very strong willed 2 year old that makes it very hard to go places with.

It's definitely exhausting when you wanna relax but you're worried about being an inconvenience because you spend your time keeping a young toddler happy. It will pass. We brought my daughter to the Casino around that age. She has a blast. They're so much to look
At and she just wondered about. When she had enough and didn't want to be held, we would plop her on the stroller with a stuffed animal or her baby tablet. Technology has its uses lol. I know it's hard to join in when you have anxiety that your child isn't gonna be having a good time and you're worried them being upset with ruins other people's fun. Just please make sure you don't let that feeling stop you from doing everything. It's okay to pick and choose but make sure you're still doing some things you want to do. I became a hermit mama for a while and I feel so much better now that I'm taking chances and just kinda going with the flow when my daughter has a meltdown.

I have so much anxiety. I am such a hermit mom. Ds Is just too much for me sometimes. I feel like an inadequate mother at times because I can't Handle it. It's exhausting to me and I feel like I'm just a burden with him. Dd is loved by everyone and anyone. But ds everyone tries to kind of stay away from him to just avoid a meltdown.

If he is to the point others avoid him, then it might be time to address these issues with his dr. He might have something else going on. It won't hurt anything to get him evaluated.
