Same thing happened to my son. He broke out in a similar rash a week after finishing a course of amoxicillin. We never did get to the bottom of it. He was super lethargic and fussy. His pediatrician ordered blood work and his levels were super funky. We got referred to a pediatric hematologist. We saw him 3 times for subsequent blood work and everything slowly returned to normal. He hasn't had any issues since. His pediatrician won't prescribe amoxicillin to him anymore though just as a precaution.

Take him in. He could have a penicillin allergy and that is an extremely common allergy.

I'm allergic to sulfa and something similar happens. I'd get him back in tomorrow.

Definitely looks like an amoxicillin rash. it's not an allergic reaction, it's a side effect of the meds. It shouldn't itch or bother baby really. My dd had one after taking amoxicillin for 5 days. It can appear any time during or after you take it.

Could be roseola. My DD had it. Very high fevers for day then suddenly a rash all over. We were freaking out. Thought chicken pox. Went to emergency and they said roseola. We were like what the hell is that. The fevers are the scary part. Very contagious for babies/toddlers.

Id still keep an eye on him and see if I could get a hold of the pediatrician at least over the phone tomorrow.

Every time I've had a reaction and called in, they told me it was a normal side effect. That is, until I had to go into the ER.

I'm not saying this to freak you out, just to let you know.

I called our nurse line. She said it didn't sound like an allergic reaction and to continue the Amox.

Looks like he's allergic to amoxicillin. I am too.

I'm allergic to cillins and sulfas, it's hard for me to find one I can use. I'm praying our girls aren't the same.

Me and my son get this during or after a fever. It should go away on its own.

After reading one of your posts it seems like roseola since he had a fever. The rash appears after the fever breaks. It's not itchy or painful. It'll eventually go away on its own without any treatment. It might last a few days. My son had this when he was younger and the rash lasted a day or so.

Normal. My boys always break out n a rash when they are sick. It's just the way their body responds to viral n bacterial infections. I don't think it's a reaction to the meds, but just call in case.

Looks like a reaction to the antibiotic. Call the doctor and let them know.

This happened to my daughter after taking 3 doses of amoxicillin. I made a doctor's appointment and it turns out that she was allergic and was prescribed a different antibiotic. Take your child to the doctor and get a different antibiotic.

Possibly amox rash? My daughters looked like this. She's allergic.

Also could be a viral rash.
