Poor baby, I just want to hug him! It's not unusual at all for shelter dogs to have severe separation anxiety, he spent a significant portion of his short life being abandoned. Thank you for taking him in and actually being willing to work with him!

Aw I recently had to re home a Dutch shepherd due to severe separation anxiety we tried everything but he wasn't able to get over it.. He was the sweetest most amazing dog when we were home. We were very lucky to be able to find him a forever home with someone who can be with him virtually 24/7 and he's doing amazing.

I'm definitely going to look in to some type of trainer. And getting him a big Kong. He has the squeaky toys tug awar ropes and balls. He is the perfect dog when we are home, but when we leave hes a Tasmanian devil. Also, since I'm stay home I will start walking him way more. That would be good for me too.

This dog seems to have anxiety really bad.

I have large dogs lol, we use the largest mixing bowl that's metal. Nothing plastic unless you want it chewed up.

Have you tried bully sticks? How about antlers?

What kind of dog is it? Working dogs need lots I physical activity and all dogs need mental stimulation.

Look into toys that feed the mental and chewing need.

Kong, unbreakaball, those types of things.

Switch to a metal bowl✨ but please do look into his anxiety.

I don't leave anything in my dogs crate besides the bedding they sleep on. Have you tried putting a blanket over the crate when you out the dog in there? It can be calming for the dog not to see outside things and they like the dark. My dogs go quiet and right to sleep when their kennel is covered. Just be careful and try it out when you are home because some ill the blanket through the kennel to chew on it. We also always give them treats when we put them in there. They think of it as an award. I grab the bag and they run to their kennel.

Can I recommend a thunder buddy shirt. My dads lab mix has severe separation anxiety, even being left with another dog she would freak out. The thunder buddy shirt instantly helped calm her down.

Get him a kong or an activity toy for while he is in his crate- something that will keep him entertained. Fill the kong with peanut butter and freeze it. He's def going to need extensive training... The fact that he's a Dalmatian mix makes it worst Dalmatians are very difficult dogs. Looks like he has separation anxiety as well as high energy. Walks, toys and playing won't be enough for a dog like him he will probably need hour long runs more then once a day.

Dalmatians are known for being able to run 120 miles and still have energy. With my Dalmatian mix I had to walk her at least three hours a day. One and a half in the morning and one and a half the evening and still needed different types of activities to do throughout the day just to have her not destroy things.

I was told you should never leave anything in the crate with a dog if you're leaving him alone because they will get bored, eat/chew whatever is available and he could potentially choke.

If my old dog did this, he would have funky barf in an hour or so, sorry about your luck lol

We had a Keeshond, soooooooooo smart. Like, scary smart. He used to stand at the top of the steps, drop his ball, race it to the bottom, and catch it in his mouth. You need to get this dog one of those treat puzzle bowls. He may really enjoy it!

I had a dog whom would howl when I wasn't home.

Separation anxiety. Find a trainer in your area that follows Sophia Yins philosophies and keep crating him until you make progress.

In the mean time, associate you leaving with something good like a super special treat. I used to fill a kong with cream cheese and banana for my dog as she hates peanut butter, and freeze it.

Do not have anything soft in his cage like toys or a bed, he can get a blockage from the fabric not passing.

Does he have toys he can chew on while crated? I had a monster as well. Actually she had emergency surgery due to a blockage in her intestines (from eating all her toys) so I had to get some good toys for when she had to be crated. We did nylabone for xl dogs and a black kong with peanut butter frozen in it.

Awe, poor guy. What breed? He might have anxieties. You can look into that.

Ice we do. We go on walks and play fetch quite a lot. He is always playing with dd. I stay home so he is not always in his crate
