Go for the cans labeled "light chunk tuna". This is typically skipjack tuna, as opposed to albacore. They are a smaller variety of tuna with a much shorter natural lifespan, so they accumulate much less mercury than albacore or yellowtail tuna does.

Trader Joe's labels the cans as SkipJack Tuna, but most other places use the term "Light Chunk Tuna."

Tuna in a can is fine we were told two cans a week. Filets etc should be cooked well done.

The bigger the fish the more risk of mercury (bioaccumulates) so stick to smaller fish.

Cooked crab legs are fine pp same with shrimp.

Fish to limit during pregnancy

Tuna

When you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant, you should limit the amount of tuna you eat because it also contains high levels of mercury. Dont eat more than:

two tuna steaks a week (each weighing about 140g when cooked or 170g raw)four medium-sized cans of tuna a week (about 140ga can when drained)

This is from the NHS website

I used to eat or once a week. I'd have to go to fancy organic store to find some that are low Mercury though.

Supposedly there's new research that the mercury levels aren't all safe in every can..? I asked the same question not too long ago. I would say a can here and there is okay just don't over do it.
