need advice!

My son will not sleep in his crib suddenly. It has been going on for over 2 weeks. He's ebf and will be 5 months in a few days. I heard of 4 month sleep regression but its only in his crib the second I lay him on the bed he passes out. However cosleeping isn't really an option its too crowded. Im wondering if I should introduce rice cereal at night? He is a high needs baby and I really need my sleep to function.

Good post op. We are literally going through the same thing right now.

I also think my daughter is used to me. Going to bring it up with the ped when we see her tom to see her thoughts. I keep thinking it's also the reflux. But I put the mattress on a slight incline .ugh idk !

I think it is the scent of my bed he is used to. Im going to try putting something in his crib with my scent on It.Its definitely worth a shot lol. His crib also isn't cozy so I'll do what I can to make it comfier. The toy Is a good Idea too.Im going to look around for something similiar. Hes been fighting sleep in general lately and only takes cat naps in the afternoon usually in his swing or during a walk. I try putting him in his cribs for naps but get the same response as at night. He often falls asleep while nursing but now I think he's so dependant on that he could be lacking the skills to fall asleep on his own. Thanks for all the suggestions, definitely got me brainstorming :)

I was giving my ds rice in his bottles at 4months, that and yellow/orange fruits and veggies were approved by pediatrician, and he sleeps well at night. However I didnt put ds to sleep in his own crib until he was about 8 months old and he sleeps 12 hour nights now.

Best Wishes and I hope you find a solution soon

Yeah bubs is so use to you its possible just the scent is more comforting in your bed, it sounds weird but some people say just a shirt or something of yours from the laundry can help some nights i havnt tried this personally but maybe just pop your pillow in the cot for one night, a sheet or something from your bed u feel safe enough to tuck in his cot. Might at least give u one nights sleep back lol

I usually put him on the pillow or just the blanket and he instantly falls asleep. His crib however, he will wake up from the deepest sleep the second he hits the mattress. He doesn't like being on his back either and having reflux doesn't help :/ I was going to try cereal as a last resort but would like to wait if possible because I dont think he is still hungry. I feel its more of a lonesome thing at this point and like you said the smells and everything must be more comforting to him.I just miss my sleep lol.

How do u put him down in your bed? I only ask because when i put my son in our bed it was either cuddles or it was on a pillow i figured out pritty early our son hated sleeping flat on a cot matress he loved having a pillow lol mind u we loved cuddles so it was 50/50 sometimes though it can just be the beds cold when you put them down or the fact your scent is all over your bed and not theirs, its a tricky one really sometimes they just want to be a pain hehe :-P a few things kept waking my son aswell if we let him fall asleep and moved him he would wake really quick cos we sleep with a tv on so going to a quiet room he hated it, he would also wake as soon as he heard something like a neighbours dog barking or what not :-/ even just the temp change between rooms anoyed him -__- as to solids i would just ask your doc before making a decision its really hard some people say wait till 6 months some say 4 months so i dono we waited to 6 months i beleive when our son was sitting up properly on his own and we never did rice cereal we did mash potato and a few different things first

Its the strangest thing! All of a sudden he was like anti crib. I hope your daughter grows out of it too. Tonight is the first night in weeks, very long weeks he has been in the crib for over an hour! Keeping fingers crossed :/ .I let him fall asleep on the bed then after a while carefully picked him up and put him down in the crib and continued to kind of hold him for a few minutes. This tactic usually fails though lol so im really hoping he's growing out of it.

I hope it doesn't last that long! Its reassuring knowing im not the only one who went through this because my so's parents are so old school and always telling me he's a big boy and not satisfied on milk. I keep telling them that's not really the issue. He hates bottles too, even if he didnt I agree its definitely a choking hazard and wouldn't risk it.

I wish I could but currently at my so's parents house and the room is small I dont think it would fit right. Its a good suggestion though. He has reflux but has been on zantac for months and it seemed to help so his doctor never mentioned cereal.
