My dad stopped by with food last night and I went to the food bank this morning and got a good amount of food. So we should be fine until my husband gets paid. All that's left to do is get my son some diapers and I'm sure we could figure out some way to get the money for them. Thanks everyone for the advice and for listening to my stress induced rant lol

So if you go to the human and health services office, they'll immediately approve you for whatever benefits you apply for (Medicaid, food stamps) and you'll get the food stamps card right away. It takes about 24 hours for the $ to be loaded but after that you're good to use it. Also, if you've already applied, they'll prorate the amount from your application date so it may be more than the monthly amount. Trust me, I waited over a month and finally just went in to the office. I was there for 3.5 hours and left with everything taken care of. If it's a possibility to get a ride there, do it. & if you ever need to vent, I'm here for you, op. Sorry you are so stressed ❤️

Then yes go apply! I think you may automatically qualify for WIC if you qualify for food stamps. Let them know it's an emergency situation and see if you can get it today. Check food pantrys and even put a post asking for free canned goods or whatever on a local FB swap page. A lot of times it happens on ours and people are more than happy to donate. Shoot I have baby food and pouches here we won't use that I'm getting ready to,post for free.

I'm not worried about diapers. We can get diapers. It's food I was worried about. I am going to the food bank and my dad is helping me get some other things. And I dont have a phone plan? I use the xfinity wifi that runs through the city. My dad pays for xfinity and signed my phone into the wifi. And yes they are being super slow with any kind of aid.. I'm not so worried anymore but I just have been so stressed and that was the last straw. So i needed to talk about it to someone. I'm trying to get wic and foodstamps. Wic won't be too hard I just need to be able to get there. Hopefully my father in law can take me.

If you are still living with your Dad, WIC will include his income as well. Can he buy the food for you and your son until hubby gets paid?

Sophia I'm guessing you live in the same state as me. My state's Governor refused Medicaid funding from the government. There have been serious set backs and delays with aide in the state. Hopefully y'all gat get back up on your feet. In the mean time, just thinking of ways to make money. Are you crafty? Etsy, EBay? In the 70's-80's the pet rock was the bomb. Like people will pay ? for absolute crap in the name of art. Just sayin'

Does your state have a diaper bank? Mine does and there are several locations where they distribute them. You don't have to show income or anything but once a month you can get a pack of diapers. Every little bit helps. Is there a grocery outlet in your area? I know they are in different locations throughout the US but I don't know what all areas they are in. They sell things like products that the company changed the packaging on and stuff like that. Or sometimes stuff that expires within a month or something. But they sell it at a super discount. I've gotten a whole cart load of groceries there before for $30.

And wic will ask for house hold income. That includes Those that live with you. If your so doesn't receive mail or have your address on his mail, isn't on utilities, then you may get away with it. But you will be lying and risking it.

If you don't have much grocery money, be smart about it. My husband and I make almost 100k a year and we don't buy go-gurt! It's too expensive. We buy healthier (less sugar) large off brand containers of yogurt. I would be shopping at cheap places that don't even sell brand names like go gift.

I think I would be cancelling my phone and plan if I couldn't buy food.

I applied for foodstamps. They are making it difficult for me to get them and for some reason they didn't expedite them even when I didn't have any income when I applied. I am working on getting wic. And i will definitely look into that I'd love to make his pouches homemade.

This is definitely a situation where food stamps and wic would be helpful. Could you babysit another child in your home for extra income?

Also next time you have a little expendable income, look into purchasing Wee Sprouts refillable pouches, it's so much cheaper to make them yourself. I make yogurt with fruit and even freeze them! You could make all sorts of different combos.

Why not get food stamps?

Been there... I was so stoked about extra money because DH went out of state to work to make that extra money and turned out it wasn't all his, long story short, we BARELY made it for wic because he makes "to much money" but with all the bills I'm like "where is it then" so I understand you.. just breath and do what you have to, your child will understand when he gets older, DH was raised with 5 other brothers and single mom, you'd think the older ones would've maintained a job and help her but nope, but because of that he appreciates a lot of things that sometimes surprises me.. good luck hun!!

I'm so sorry, I know how you feel with financial stress :( like others have said try food stamps even just for a little while. There's nothing wrong with a family getting help they deserve.

Look into wic and food stamps. It sounds like you'll be able to qualify and could help you out a ton. I hope he gets the rest of the check. Sorry your going through this.

How,old is your son? I was told WIC goes until age 5. Also apply,for food stamps.

Have you ever tried journaling? That might help to get out all your feelings of stress. It helps for me anyways. Praying for you and your family
