I’m sorry, sounds like it wasn’t that helpful! Some consultants are amazing and so dedicated to making it work!

Just to have patience and use a shield ? and the shield isn’t helping

Did she give you any latching tips? Hope it helps to use a nipple shield.

I went to a LC today and she said he doesn’t have a lip tie. She said I have a supply issue and then said my supply is fine he’s just having a hard time latching on. Which is why I went in to have him checked for a lip tie ? she just told me to try a nipple shield and to be patient

Lip ties almost always are accompanied by posterior tongue ties which can also cause latch issues. Join tongue tied babies Facebook group and they have list of providers that specialize in this under their files section

LC to confirm then after we had to go to a dentist who specialized in it. This time i will ask an LC to check but since my son had a slight one that still gave us trouble i will probably call our dentist to double check for us. Good luck and get it fixed asap!

Yes it is. My bub just had laser for lip and tounge tie, she was choking at every meal, milk spilling out the sides of her mouth everywhere and lots of clicking etc which us why we decided to get it treated. She had very tight ties. She stuck her tounge out for the first time a few hours after the laser, and has not choked or had milk spilling out since. If he is having feeding issues it is so worth doing. She didn’t even fuss after the proceedure! We had a paediatric surgeon do it.

Definitely make an appointment if it’s causing problems with his latch they can clip it and it heals very quickly

He does a little better with a nipple shield but he still can’t stay latched on. I guess I should make an appointment ? it’s upsetting not being able to bf

Yes it is. A lactation consultant will confirm it. We had to get my son's lip and tongue tie lasered then I could bf him. Have you tried using a nipple shield?

I’ve been having some problems with breast feeding him I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong but I’m guessing this is the problem. Do I ask his pediatrician or go to a Lactation consultant??

Yes, ask your pediatrician at your next visit though. My oldest dd had a lip tie and it caused problems nursing but my new baby (2 weeks) has one too and it hasn’t caused any problems and her doctor said it’s not going to cause problems in the future because it’s not as extreme.

Looks like the lip can flare up well, that’s what matters. See a lactation consultant if you have access if you want to be sure.
