Nighttime routine
I'm curious what the nighttime routine looks like for you and your little one. Including activities, feeding, and timing (how long your routine takes and when LO is eventually asleep by). Our 10 week old gets a bath every second or third night, but we always have wind down time in her dimly lit room which consists of her laying on a playmate while we talk to her. Then we put her in a sleep sack and feed her a bottle while in the glider. Once she falls asleep, we transfer her to her crib to sleep. We won't leave the room until she's completely asleep. She is normally asleep by 7:45-8:30. Then we change and feed her when she wakes up throughout the night (1am, 4am). I'm trying to set some good behaviors now to avoid any real sleep struggles later and just wondering what everyone else is doing. Thank you in advance for sharing!
We’ve been in a routine since about 4 weeks. My kids seem to all crave the routine early. She seemed to lead the routine and we went with it. We bathe every night, lotion and pjs. Then swaddle in a swaddle sack. Nurse then I put her in her crib drowsy. She’s been sleeping 6-8hr stretches since about 5 weeks. Exclusively breastfeeding. She does sleep on her side though because of an airway issue and reflux! During the day we keep it more light in there... blinds open. And we swaddle in a blanket rather than a sack. My girls have also thrived in their own cribs in their own rooms. I think we spent a lot of awake hours because we were waking eachother up and I think I was getting her up before she was actually awake!
Thanks for sharing ladies! Seems as though everyone has a similar regime so I'm glad I'm not way out there with mine ?
She is 7 weeks old. Every other night she gets a bath and in pjs around 7pm. Feed her around 8pm and put her in a sleep sack and she goes in the rock n play for the night. Wakes around 2 am and then 4 am to eat again. Been doing this routine since the day we got home from the hospital
Every other night is bath time which I start at 730-8. Lotion, PJs, nurse. I then do another diaper change and give a 2 oz bottle of breastmilk. He is in his swing by 830-9 every night. I've been trying his crib but it hasn't been working. Right now he will only nap in it during the day and total fuss pants at night. He won't wake up again until 430-530 for his first feed.
The routine happened out of necessity. My husband was on a week long work trip.
Bathe 4 yr old
Bathe Luca, lotion, PJs
Nurse Luca while I’m reading bedtime books to Cooper. He falls asleep during this.
Once Cooper is asleep, I lay Luca in his crib and swaddle him. Both are asleep by 830.
My girl is 11 weeks and we don’t actually have a routine yet. We bath her every second night and just let her fall asleep when she falls asleep. Which is usually around 9pm after her 7th bottle for the day. My husband put wheels on her snuzpod so once asleep we drag it out to lounge room and transfer her to be with us and then wheel her back into the bedroom when we go to bed. We don’t have her sleeping on her own just yet mostly because she was 4lb 15oz born and still very small at 8lb 6oz. We have never been quiet around her either so she will sleep through the tv, us talking, vacuum, hairdryer etc.
my husband leaves for work at 6am and gets home at 6.30pm if I was to put her to bed any earlier he would hardly see her Monday to Friday so I am worried about bringing in an earlier bed time but at the mo we are happy with her telling us when she’s ready as I don’t go back to work for another 4 months.
We are just starting this so I’m curious what others are doing too. LO is 11 weeks and around 6:30 to 7 she gets so tired she starts losing it. Usually I take her up to her room and dim the lights while we do PJs, swaddle her and turn on white noise, I have tried reading but she usually gets really mad ?. I’ll nurse her for a min then sing while I burp her, then rock her for awhile. We are trying to put her down (in rock n play which later gets moved to our room) before she’s totally asleep. Sometimes she goes right to sleep and sometimes she fights it and cries for almost an hour while i rock her.
I’ll be excited when we have a predictable routine down! Right now I’m missing the tail end of dinner and bedtime with our older two kids (hubby finishes up with them while i try to get the baby down)
I put all the kids to sleep by 1030 pm . every other night its bathe time so we do that at 10pm and changed and all by 1030 I co sleep with both my kids 3 yr old dd and 9 week old Adam. my kids both sleep in for 12 hours ... Adam wakes through out the night to feed. it's ok though I just pull out the breast and back to sleep I go. I'm blessed these children were so easy to sleep train.. being consistent is key
