Struggling.
Transitioning from SAHM to working mom after 21 months is one of the hardest things I've done.
Part of it I’m sure is the emotions of you transitioning to work. That must be hard. You will find your balance - i work full time and am in online grad school at night. Thank goodness we have a nanny and not my mother in law. I can’t even imagine. But talk to her. Pick your favorite times with your child - is it mornings? Bedtime? Etc. and ask her to let you do that time. Tell her that she can absolutely take time to herself in the mornings or in the evenings. Let her know that you want to be able to spend some one-on-one on the weekends with your little family. Does she have friends or other family in the area? It’s a shame she doesn’t have an apartment nearby or something to go home to at night! I talk so much during the day i literally want to snuggle my kids, put them to bed, do my homework, and zone out to crap television at the end of the day. I can’t imagine having to small talk!
It could definitely be that. She's only been here a week. Maybe it's just all the transitions getting to me.
I set up a TV in her room, and she's taken the hint and given DH & I time together in evening. I usually get an hour with my son in the morning before she wakes up. I don't want her to feel 100% unwanted and banished to her room. I'm having trouble finding the balance.
how lucky that she is able to move in with you to help out with childcare, it is such a transition time for you all.... instead of getting stressed and annoyed talk to her, lay out your expectations. she is probably totally in the dark to your feelings.
