They take pressure to absorb. Like a baby sitting in them. Try putting water on it and lightly pressing on the insert. But yes, you can absolutely wash everything together

I dried them a couple times, and water just rolled off. But! I just dried them again after this last wash, and they're finally absorbing! The microfiber absorbed immediately; my LO is wearing some now. CBI was the issue.

Yes you can wash all together. All synthetic material should only need to be washed one time. Charcoal bamboo is so processed it pretty much becomes a synthetic as well. Have you dried the inserts yet to see if they will absorb once dry? Also I believe microfiber need a bit of pressure on it to absorb properly if that makes sense.
