I know with tax he claims 1 for himself. Another if he is the sole employed. One for you. And one for each kid. There are a couple others too. I know with my family of 4 we "should" put down 8 for various reasons but we stick with 4 because I absolutely would hate to owe in the end.

I claim 2 one for me and one for my daughter. But sometimes I adjust throughout the year if I need extra money. I get 419 held for federal and 182 for state. I get 1229 total taken out for health and retirement and all the other bs lol

Without looking I would say 3 himself, and his dependents; you and baby. If you are not married then 2.

The more u claim the less they take out during the year...but u could end up owing @ the end of the year

6 seems excessive. My husband has never claimed more than 2. When I worked before our daughter was born I didn't claim any and my husband claimed 1. His job didn't take out enough in taxes so basically the money I had paid extra ended up covering what his job should have taken out. When in doubt it's always better to claim lower so you don't end up owing.

We are single income and dh is the SAHD. I claim 10 allowances (4 kids) and we still get a pretty big refund.

I wish they only took $70 out of my paychecks... they take about $650 out of each of my paycheck and sometimes more when I work more overtime.. ???

DH and I always claim 0. It sucks how much we pay in taxes but we always use our big tax return to pay for things like bills, paying off our car, next year we are using it for down payment on a house.

It depends do you want the money in your check or as a big tax return.

When I worked I did 0 and when he works he does 2 or sometimes 0. His taxes are over 500 weekly depending on what job he's on, last job he was at 900 a weekly tax withheld. It's depressing ? but I would rather that than owe

The question is also do you want money back. I claim 7 for Fed and 2 for state. Last year my fed owed was about $200 and I got back about $700 for state. So it evened out and I ended up with $500 after paying Fed. I don't care to have money back every year and would prefer a bigger monthly paycheck.

I claim HoH with just me and my son, and I make under 100,000 but I make too much to be eligible for EIC.

If you want money back every year I would suggest he claim 2 or 3. With claiming 6 you most likely will break close to even or owe less than $500 depending on how close he is to the 100,000 income, also if you own a home etc.

The less you claim the more u get back... $70 out sounds awesome. My fiance gets $800+ taken out weekly when it's a full check not including state taxes, Medicaid, social security and health insurance.

If he only gets $70 taken out of his check w/ 0 allowances, I wouldn't change it. That's a steal in my opinion! Definitely wouldn't go pass 3 though, if it has to be changed.

I always claim zero dependents on the W-4. I'd rather see the money at tax time.

DH changed his to claim every allowance so that little to nothing is taken out of his check, we still make little enough that we don't owe at the end of the year though.

Basically we had been paying in for the govt to "hold" our money, that we got back end of the year anyways, and get interest on it!

Nope. We prefer to keep our money. Lol.

If your DH makes a lot though, you want to pay in more through the year to offset what you owe end of year or break even.

2 or 3 is far less scary than 6.

2 or 3 max. The more you claim, the less is withheld and you may have to pay in.
