Lillian Faye has arrived!!! 6lb 12oz and 19in. UPDATED BIRTH STORY TIME!!!
Alright ladies so my story begins Sunday night October 29th when I get the all clear call to finally come in for my induction. DH and I arrive at the hospital and I'm immediately hooked up to fluids and Cytotec was inserted (OUCH). 4 hours later my second dose of Cytotec is inserted (oh the pain was remarkable) after 30 minutes I begin to contract and they were mild at 50's. I get a little rest and am rudely awakened by contractions every 5 minutes. Needless to say I didn't sleep that much. 4am rolls around and the nurse and I are discussing pitocin since it was in the birth plan anyways but I was crying in pain from contractions and the cytotec brought me to 4-5cm dilated. I decided to be proactive and get the epidural.
Now, I am a completely WEINER when it comes to needles. DH said when the anesthesiologist was doing his procedure to insert the epidural from my labor shakes and me jerking away from his needle I squirted spinal fluid on him... oops! Also my heart rate went from 90bpm to 130bpm. The first dose he gave me I was overly numb, but my contractions kept coming and the nurse actually pulled bavk the pitocin and my body took over. As the epidural started to ease up a bit I start to feel new sensation in my lady region. My nurse checks me and I jumped from a 4-5 to a 9 1/2 in just 4 hours. All we waited on was the final "lip" to dilate and for me to get the urge go push.
15 minutes later I am pushing the nurse button and am in shock/mild panic because I have no idea what this sudden feeling is. She does another check and Lillian moved into my birth canal and she said her head was "just there and we can start pushing". I pushed 3 times for a total of 10 seconds with each contractions. To be honest I have no idea how long I was pushing but the nurse I had was an amazing coach and gave me such courage to really PUSH.
Finally my OB is paged and he is surprised to see me progressed so well and he gets suited up and in position 30 minutes with the OB and Lilly is here!
I had her placed on me straight from vagina go chest, no need for wiping, 3-5 minutes I got to hold her in all her goo as nurses wiped her back off on me. DH cut the cord after my placenta was delivered and the cord cutting was delayed til pulses stopped.
Off to evaluation she went and my MIL, DH and one of his sisters all go and observe. My OB is complimenting me and said "guess what?!" I looked at him and joked saying "I now have 1 hole?" He laughed and the nurses did too. "Nope actually the opposite you didn't tear or rip. You have one abrasion I like to call a skid mark, and honey we rarely see that in first time moms" I squealed and asked to see my down stairs. I only had mild swelling and felt like a million bucks.
I am finally a mother. I had the best birth I could ever imagine even with my trials of fear. I got the best prize of them all, DH and I creation of love, our Lillian Faye Vaughn!
