Congratulations! I wish I had advice for you! My previous pregnancy I gained about 30 and I had GD. I tried to continue that way of eating after dd was born. I was also breastfeeding so I thought I would lose weight but I didn't. In fact I gained another 10 pounds in the first month. I went on a stricter diet and my milk supply tanked. I talked to my doc about it and he said it has to do with hormones and metabolism. He told me it was actually more common to have trouble losing weight while bf and not to worry about it. I was bummed but I felt that nursing my baby took priority over losing weight. I hope you have better success than I did!

I gained 50 with both my boys... hoping this doesn't happen this time cause it's so hard to get off. Good luck. Hopefully we both lose it!

I weighed 216 when I got pregnant with my son 5 years ago, and was 240 when I delivered. For the first couple of weeks, not much changed weight-wise, but about 4 weeks after he was born, I was down to 225 out of nowhere. 6 months after his birth I was 198. A year after, I was 185. I did NOTHING to lose weight aside from lots of water and breastfeeding. I ate whatever I wanted (I ate healthy but also ate whatever snacks/junk I wanted too). Don't worry about it for the first 4-6 weeks. Your milk supply is just getting established and the most important thing to do is eat, and eat PLENTY. Seriously, any time I would actually diet that first year, it did not go well for my weight or my milk supply. You are burning 400-800 calories a day just by fully breastfeeding.

Thank you ladies! I'm actually changing my diet a little bit because my son is a little colic and has bad gas problems. I am almost 3 weeks postpartum and down 25 pounds so there is hope for me! I hope I continue to lose the weight.

Give yourself at least 6 weeks..take it easy and let the water weight come off. Try adding more fruits and veggies and cut out processed foods as much as you can. When you reach a plateau and are cleared by your Dr to lose weight, I recommend weight watchers. Sometimes you just need a little accountability and support from others doing the same thing you are. It helped me tons before getting pregnant, and I will definitely be going back after. Good luck and enjoy that sweet baby❤

My baby was colicky too. Cutting out dairy definitely helped.
