Second opinion/cancel D&C

My doctor was very adamant about doing repeat u/s to confirm it wasn't a viable pregnancy because she didn't want that regret herself. I think i had 3 of them since she noticed there was a problem. It also helped me find peace of mind with the situation. It doesn't hurt to get a second opinion sara.. to put your mind at rest! This doesn't sound too good but I'm praying for better results for you! Prayers your way.

Do you have a Doppler, or have access to one? Maybe see if you can pick up the heartbeat.

I’m right around 6-7 weeks. So with it measuring 6 weeks, I can believe that. The last time I went in for an ultrasound they seen a gestational sac but it was too small to measure? So they had me come back 10 days later and this time we seen a much bigger sac but empty. Just not sure what to think but I know if I went ahead with the D&C without another ultrasound I would regret it.

I ended up getting a second opinion. I did have a missed miscarriage though and ended up having to have a D&C.

My OB usually refuses to do an ultrasound before 8 weeks because of situations like this. If I were you, I'd wait until then for a follow-up scan. Or get a second opinion.

At 8 weeks we only saw a sac and a fetal pole. I told my OB I wanted to go back in at 9 weeks to make sure nothing had changed. She supported me in that decision and I really respected her for that. If I had just jumped into the D&C, I would have never forgiven myself and always wondered what if. The 9 week ultrasound confirmed there was just a sac and it gave me peace knowing it was over and I was making the right decision. It was worth the additional $300 I paid for that ultrasound.

It can’t hurt to get a second opinion

Either would work.

By 7000 hcg you shoyld see a yolk sac

By 11000 you should see a fetal pole

I believe i read 1 of your posts saying that this ultrasound was a follow up from your last 1. You should have seen baby by now.

Im not trying to be a negative Nancy i do ultrasounds just giving my opinion.

By all means get a secong opinion or even just ask your doctor to give you 1 more week then order 1 last ultrasound if your doc refuses then maybe seek different doctor.

Is there anyone that you can ask who their OB dr is and try calling them? I would then explain the story, and just say you want a second opinion.

I would definitely go with your gut, when we conceived our daughter they witnessed an empty sack on our ultrasound, and because we’d had a miscarriage very shortly before they thought what they were seeing was left over. It actually turned out to be a new pregnancy.

How far along are you sara? And have u had a u/s before this one ?
