Bumpers...
How did I not realize how dangerous it is to have bumpers in the crib? I feel like such a bad mama. Not to mention my husbands grandma bought it for us and feel bad but after reading all about it I'm for sure taking them down!

Good call taking them down.

We put the mesh/breathable bumpers in when baby was old enough to move around a lot and kept getting arms and legs stuck through the bars and the paci kept falling onto the floor.

None of my kids have ever had any crib bedding or bumpers. We only put a cute sheet in the crib. They can't sleep with all that stuff because of the suffocation risk and it's expensive! I'm like geesh I can get a queen set for this price!!

I got rid of them last night. Couldnt go to bed without taking them off lol. Feel better

My health visitor told me horror stories about bumpers how babies get caught under them and suffocate I don't know why they still sell them in shops ?

I have the mesh bumpers. I figured that baby won't be in the crib til around 6 months, when they can roll over and have more control over their movement

I don't use bumpers because it's one more thing to wash. As far as headbands go, not in the car seat or while they're sleeping and you'll be fine. I only used headbands for photos, they mess up baby's hairline if they wear them too much.

I just feel bad because I didnt read up on that and I know those werent cheap. We dont have any gift receipt for it and hubbys grandma bought it for us. I don't know if Babies r us will take it back

I used them with my son. We use a ceiling fan and since he's in a crib, it's a lot of space. However I have it stuck a good portion of the way down between the mattress and the siding. I don't feel like it's anymore dangerous than the pack n play bassinet or one of those smaller co-sleepers. We didn't really start to be concerned until 6 months, but even then he was larger and could move.

I feel like they just get dusty anyways. Who wants to constantly wash those things?!

I really liked the look of bumpers, so with my first I just used the back piece (mine had 4 separate pieces). I thought that was a good compromise. Then with my second I used a mesh one. And now I'm not using one at all. They're cute. But not worth the risk.

Honestly, I had no clue either. With my first I used one and with my second I found out how harmful they can be so I got a mesh one. This time I'm just not going to put one at all. I will say not having one also concerns me because I know someone who lost their baby due to him sticking his head between the bars of the crib ?? so it's scary to me either way. Don't feel like a bad mama we learn something new everyday.
