Sleep
Talk to me about how your babies sleep. Are they swaddled, not swaddled, back, belly, side sleepers, crib, rock n play, pack n play. I'm curious. My little girl has recently become the worst sleeper and I'm not sure what to do at this point.
I commented on here my baby wakes up every 2-3 hours a week ago.. I finally listened to my mom about putting her on her belly since she has really good head strength she has for 5 days in a row now slept through the night!! 9pm-7:30am it's crazy! I was afraid to let her sleep on her belly but she does just fine!
I’m in Australia so our guidelines may be different to yours. Our guidelines say that babies should sleep on their backs to decrease the risk of SIDS because they don’t always have the strength on the tummies to turn their heads to the side.
My daughter sleeps in a singlet, long sleeve romper and a onesie with 8 thin cotton blankets. She Sleeps from when I put her to bed at around 7-8pm to 6.30am to 7.30am.
There is an Australian author tizzie hall who has written a book Save our Sleep which gives sleep advice and routines etc which I loosely follow.
Not swaddled, long sleeve onesie in bed with me. Loud fan on aswell. We side nurse to sleep then after a couple hours e goes on his back
For our evening to chill things out we Nurse in dim room. We do quiet time after 7pm so snuggle a bit ebfore bath. Do bath massage all that good stuff return to dark room nurse to sleep which is usually 8-9pm
Wakes up at 6 am , diaper change and nurse then back to sleep til 9 then were up
My girl sleeps in a sleep sack on her back or side in a crib by my bed. Bedtime about 7:30, 3am nurse, and up for the day at 6:30. I tried going back to swaddling her last week and it didn't really make a difference so I'm back to using sleep sacks with just a diaper on. She loves being able to suck on her hands. Also white noise I think helps a lot. That's our average night, but some nights she's up 2-3 times.
Rita is 3 mos & sleeps in footie pajamas and a sleep sack, no swaddle. She goes down around 7:30/8pm (I nurse her to sleep in our bed) and then she transfers to a pack n play next to me when she's completely asleep. She sleeps on her side and usually rolls onto her back. She usually wakes at 5 to nurse and back down til 8am. If she's extra hungry, she might wake up around 2.
My daughter is 11 wks and sleeps in a diaper and Velcro swaddle (arms in) on her back. She goes down around 8:30-9pm in a bassinet next to our bed. While she has done 9 hours once, typically she'll stir around 3am and wake me up. So I feed her for a few mins, and she goes back down until 5am. I'll feed her again, and she's good to 8ish. It still varies though.
Lucas sleeps In a long-sleeve onesie under a halo sleepsack swaddler. He is swaddled in that, but with both arms out. I always place him on his back and he sleeps on his back or side. He sleeps in the Halo bassinet next to my bed. He sleeps straight through the night 8:30 pm - 7:30 am (approx.)
Catherine sleeps in a footie pajama with a halo sleepsack. She's in a bassinet next to my bed. She turned 4 months a week ago and coincidentally the next day went from waking every 2-3 hours at night to eat to doing an 8 hour stretch, eating, then sleeping another 3 hours. Hoping it lasts, if it does I'll move her to her crib. I lay her on her back but she rolls a lot so throughout the night when I check on her she switches between back, tummy and side.
My little one is swaddled in a halo swaddler or swaddleme. She always gets her right arm out so only one arm is swaddled. She sleeps in her crib. Sometimes if she wakes up for a 6 feeding I'll just put her in her bassinet in our room. She's a back sleeper. I also try and let her fall asleep on her own as much as possible so if she wakes up in the night she's able to settle herself back to sleep.
My baby girl sleeps almost all the way threw the night we put her down at like 9:30 and she will sleep til 4 or 5, eat then sleep til 10 or so. She sleeps in a rock and play I take a heating pad and warm her bed up. After she gets done eating I take the heating pad off lay her on her side and tuck one blanket from the waist down and I lay a heavy blanket on top of her not tucked it. She sleeps great. She hates being swaddled.
