In home daycare prices
Hey Ladies! I'm starting my own in home daycare within the next few months. I will be licensed and have all the required certifications as well as a bachelors degree in physical education for k-12grades. I'm trying to figure out how much to charge per hour. What do you pay for in home daycare? Do you pay per hour or per week? I'm located in the Chicago suburbs. Any suggestions or advice would also be greatly appreciated!!

I live in NY and we are going to pay $200/week for in home (at another's home) and we'll supply diapers/breast milk. Our daughter will be the only one being watched. We won't pay for the days she is not there.
For a daycare center, it would have been $300+/week and we'd have to pay whether she is there or not. Would also still need to supply diapers/breast milk.
I'm a bit jealous you all have much cheaper options... But it's expensive here!

I'm located in upstate New York, and we pay hourly. The lady I take my daughter to charges $7 an hour per kid, which ends up being about $35 a day during summer & $60 a day during the year (I'm a teacher). When we lived in Seattle, I paid weekly and it was $150 a week for 6-7 hours a day.

Yo u may want to check what the local daycares are charging. Also take to account what services and ages you will have. Will you provide food, Diapers, wipes, etc? When I was in sound texas with a newborn (which usually cost the most, and lowers in price as they get older) I was paying $110 a week. I provided his diapers/wipes and milk, as well as his blanket and sheets for his crib (which they provided). When we moved to wheeling WV, we paid $850 for a 1 yr old. They provided the food, I provided diapers/ wipes, sheets/blanket. When we moved to harrisburg pa "tuition" went up to $1100 for a 2 yr old, and I had to provide food, Diapers/wipes, blankets etc.
So basically it depends on your area and what you'll provide. my son's babysitter has the same status as you and runs her own in home daycare and she charges $225 a week. And she provides food.

I would price shop your area you want to stay competitive with your local market.
